newbie wants dahlias and glads

Does anyone have any extra dahlias or glad bulbs that they'd part with for postage? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

There are always folks who want something for nothing. I have been promised postage previously, but it never came, and I also got my name slurred after giving gifts to newbies. I will not trade unless the person wants to come here, and then if I have excess of what they want, then I will certainly share. I, for one, will not ship anymore in hopes of getting shipping costs.

Sorry for that vent, but having been taken advantage of previously several times, and trying to make a pension spread far enough, I won't have anything to do with it. I even had a person begging for material, and I felt sorry for them, and then I heard rumours that they were selling the items that I gave them. That can't be verified, but I have my suspicions, and it somewhat angers me. Furthermore, there is the issue of cross-border shipping. OMG.... $$$

Go to your local dahlia club and meet the people. They always have extras or the club has sales of tubers for really good prices. Wrong time of the year to get dahlias. Your message may get some responses in March, April or May.

Hi Jesstine. Could you add in a couple of extras? Like - sizes and colours that you'd like and/or species/varieties; and your growing zone. Also - check out the trading link on the dahlia forum. You'll find the link just above the list of postings for the site. Some forums and trades are really active and others can go for many moons without action so take that into account, please.

Whoopie! Thanks so much for those nursery names. I tried the first three and got the same results I got on my own...none in stock or not shipping. But on that last one JACKPOT! They had multiple types. I'm ordering the double lavender. I live in Tampa so no problem growing them here. They did have a minimum...which first meant I had to get three plants. I was going to offer the other two for trade/sale, but then started cruising their catalog and had no problem then hitting that minimum, lol. Thanks again, Lori

Well thank you for the welcome. Time is running short now for the season. Frost is expected here tonight but it may not happen. Dahlias still have many buds and if it could wait a few weeks the season will be just a bit longer. Will be going to Florida in the beginning of November so really need the frost to happen 2nd week of October. Need time to prep the tubers for storage. Good day to ya, Sue

There are many different types of dahlia, and many different sizes. Some of the smaller ones would be ideal for patio gardening. I have actually used some of the 4 foot dahlias in large pots as well for a spectacular show.
