These are way easy to grow from seeds too.

In some cases, WAY too easy to grow from seed :-) The plant is a prodigious seed producer (estimates of 40,000 per blossom, as many as 3 million per plant). The wind dispersed seeds can remain dormant for several years yet still have an 80% germination rate. And it requires no particular growing conditions - other than sun - to germinate and grow well.

It is considered a top 20 invasive plant in the UK and parts of Europe and is a listed invasive species in the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii. It has also naturalized through 15 midwest, east coast and midAtlantic states and is on a 'watch' list for several, including New York State.

Depending on location, plant with caution.

This will be my last year collecting seeds. I'll be deadheading from now on, unless of course I get a truly wonderful plant with unique blooms. Who am I kidding? I'll just root more of them from that one. I've had so many seeds this year, I can imagine them become invasive quite easily.

Token, i have a friend who wants plants that attract butterflies, i already have a butterfly bush in my yard. I am wondering how fast they grow from seeds, if id be better off rooting part of mine for her? Then im thinking i had one before and it didnt come back... Which way is better?

Lily, I do both. I sowed seeds last year and had plants blooming this summer. The seeds I'm offering are from those plants. There's no telling what color they will be. I collected from a range of purple to bright fuchsia. From cuttings, the plant will be identical to the mother plant. And sometimes from seed, they won't bloom the first year. Had plenty of those too. But from cuttings, they should bloom quickly.

Token - I just found this post from you, do you still have seeds? You say they are good for winter sowing? I would love some if you are still offering. :)

they do well for wintersowing. I have also tried them indoors weeks before the last frost date. They do grow rapidly to a good sized plant within a year. Then in the following year, they grow large enough to form flowers.

Mine bloomed the first year from seed. They were planted out later than other perennials, at about 4" tall. I took the strongest tiny seedlings and transplanted them into individual containers first. They tend to get lost in the garden if you plant them too small, and the seedlings are very very tiny at first. I don't know if your growing season is long enough for blooms the first year, but certainly the second. Mine started blooming in late July.
