Skies, forever changing

Lilyfinch and I thought it would be nice to start a thread on Skies, forever changing, stormy, sunsets, cloud formations etc. I'll start off with this one taken one July evening just at dusk, you can still see the outline of a rainbow.

Wow, that's a lovely sky shot, Annette! I've never seen a rainbow like that! The colors are amazing!

I bought Betty Ford due to all the raves over it. I planted it last spring (2013) and got about 10 buds from it, it was o.k. didn't wow me though like I expected. Your picture of it though is gorgeous. I'll give it a couple more years to settle in. Citrix is in my top 10 list here of over 200 daylilies. I absolutely love it. It is in part sun and does well, it doesn't look that bedraggled here until late in the evening around 6 or so. Apricot Jade is in full blazing sun all day here and is one I wouldn't be without. It is a gorgeous color (I've not yet seen a photo that really does it justice). I've taken tons of photos of it and just can't capture the true beauty of it. I think if seen in person it would be wanted by all. Your Drums Along The Mohawk is gorgeous! Awesome picture, makes me want to add it & Stolen Treasure too as I love the bitones & bicolors. I love my Hearts Of Fire also. & I've been wanting Forever Redeemed. It's wonderful that you keep up that hospital bed, excellent job you've done it's beautiful! :-)

In the past I found a couple of sites that claimed to help vet care, but none of them had any money when I was looking. DH was out of work, we had spent over $3000 to try to save Kang, and found Ana who needed major orthopedic work in both rear legs. We never got anything, Kang died, and Ana is still deformed in both rear legs. Pet insurance is something everyone who doesn't have $2000-3000 for emergencies should have. There is CareCredit at many animal hospitals, but in my experience people who really need it don't qualify. Some people keep a credit card open just for their pets in case of emergency. I personally am in a really good position for paying for vet care since in 3 weeks I'll be a vet. But I can't do some things like major orthopedic surgery or neurosurgery. So I'd have to pay for those things, but I'd probably get an industry discount. Not everyone is so lucky, so people have to be careful to have only the pets they can afford. Being financially responsible keeps people from losing their home for vet care. Watch Michael Moore's Sicko if you want to see what the USA SHOULD do in regards to human medicine.

Annette, thanks for the heads up :-) There is 2'11" from the window trim to the hallway tile. The window is a vertical slider, right to left. On the DW between the sink and the cooktop issue, I wonder if that would be so problematic if I had that peninsula with an additional, prep sink in it? I would think it would then be an asset to have the DW close to the cooktop for direct to DW 'clean as you go' flow? Stuff comes out of prep bowls/plates into the frypan/pot and the bowl is then just dropped in the DW( no doubt real cooks are going to find this sentence hilarious!) If water is needed while the DW is being loaded by someone from the clean-up sink, no problem for the cook to just pivot around to the prep sink?

Ruining the geometry, ruining the corners, ruining the plaster cornices in the rooms that have them, yes, all those. You could channel all the walls and go behind the the cornices in some places. But the wall between the hallway and the rooms downstairs is most likely solid masonry underneath. There is not a lot of cavity wall construction on the lower floors of these houses, only upstairs where the rooms get smaller. You may be able to do a high velocity system of some sort, but really old fashioned radiator heat is kindest to the historic fabric of the house. It would be much more expensive to go into this house and update it so that it looks exactly as it does now, only fresh (and has better utilities) than it would to go in and gut it. That's the problem. A gut renovation is an expensive proposition. A more careful restoration a much more expensive proposition. A million or more either way.

Same night in July just at sunset. What made me go out and look at the sky, I looked up from my computer and the whole room was washed with a pink glow, I went to the window looked at the sky and grabbed the camera :). I have never seen a sky like this before or since.

Annette , the sky looks positively on fire ! Unbelievable beauty there . Here is tonites sunset . Maybe I'll see if I am up early enough to get a sunrise for us . I enjoy this thread ! It has been a reminder to stop and appriciate it ! :)

I do, I havn't been on the boards in a couple weeks,and just tonight saw an older post where lilyfinch told me this was here.So now that I know,I'll be posting here as well.Not tonight though,as I don't have my pictures on this kindle,that I know of anyway.lol

The pictures shown so far are beautiful,and the funny thing is I took a bunch tonight as our sky was so beautiful at sunset,silver and white and gray in one area,and just to the right of that,the oranges,pinks,purples of the setting sun.It was Beautiful

I used to have this saying on my fridge that said
"I didn't know orange went with purple,til I saw the sunset GOD made"

Cut that out of a magazine,as "words" are another of my favorite things.
So many loves,so little time.Stay tuned for some pics in the next couple of days.

Kathi , please do post some pictures ! It sounds like you got some great ones . It amazes me how one moment the sky can be one color and then in no time at all shift to another . It's just incredible ! I really wish I could find my charger to my digital camera . Last night was incredible with the sky lit up by the moon and the shadows reflecting off the lake . Perfect for Halloween !

Beautiful pictures! This was taken in sept. On our back deck. The leaves are no longer on the trees so it's nice to see some green. The leaves won't be back till may.

The beautiful Ruby mountains in northeastern Nevada. The elevation is a bit over 11000 ft. That's a view from my back deck. I'm really spoiled!

Well I think this looks similar to others I have posted but it was beautiful . I always seem to be a couple min late of getting the best shots, and my iphone is not the optimum camera . Since we moved I misplaced my camera battery charger , so that stinks !
Anyway , here's my contribution !! Happy Sunday !

My previous photo was west-facing, the view from my kitchen window towards the river.
Last week I took this picture looking south over the field that runs parallel to the river. I love how this view changes depending on the light and how high the corn is.
