'Hens and Chickens' what to do for Dormant Stage

Hi everyone, I do not have a green thumb but I am trying...I have a succulent, "Hens and Chickens" I think is the name people around here call it. I belive that this one I have is going into dormancy but she has a pup or "chick" if you will. The little one is doing very well and has strong leaves and growing rapidly but the "mommy" is not looking to good. Her bottom leaves are getting soft and turning colors and all the good leaves up top are starting to grow in a downward angle. Does that make sense? I really need to know what to do with this plant.

Our winters can be brutal, we get a lot of cold and ice. Right now our highs are still nice about 60 or 50 degrees but will soon drop out and be close to 20 degrees for a high and sometimes negative single numbers at night. Should I just find a good sunny place for her to camp for the winter and leave her pup alone or go ahead and cut the pup off and plant the pup? What about how often should I water her during dormant season?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Oh, I do have this plant inside in its own pot.

Learning in KY.
