do these jade leaves look droopy ?

Hello

I have another question--the plant on left was re potted last week -soil may be moist--the middle one is very dry(ready for a drink) --the right one is almost dry--yet all leaves droop ??? any reason for this????

Mari, I don't judge whether a succulent, in this case a jade, is in need of water. Leaf turgor is a better judge. If the leaves feel firm, drooping or not, they should be OK. Something else to consider: I am assuming these all have roots because you said you "re-potted" them; if they are cuttings, then this is not applicable. If the leaves are soft, I'd check the roots to be sure they haven't rotted. No roots, no water.... soft droopy leaves. If these are cuttings, water sparingly. You want to create minimal moisture and warmth to get them to root. In this case the leaves may stay soft for some time until good roots grow and begin taking up fluid.

Leaves can also get soft and droopy without enough light.

Overpotted, over-watered and undersunned / underlit. Mari. About misting. I mist 'Tropicals' daily..Especially in winter. I was going to comment on your other thread, but forgot. Since Jades are succulent, there's really no need to mist. When I can, Jades are hauled to the sink and get a shower, w/o hitting soil. Are your Jades near a window? If you set them under lights will they get natural light and artificial? If your succulents are not getting natural sun, lights should be on about 14 hours per day. My succulents are before south and west windows. At sunset, I turn on the lights..about 4-10pm. 6-7 hours per night. Another shelf w/lights has a timer that turns on about 5pm, off about 11:30pm. However, the window faces north, and a few feet from west. There aren't any succulents on this shelf..Mostly Orchids and Aglaonemas. Tropicals. Is your light adjustable? If so, lower or raise Jades close to the bulb. Fluorescent bulbs don't produce much heat if any, incandescent bulbs do. Toni

sorry for the delay in updating (planted the Hibiscus at my daughter's in NH & I live in Chicago). Anyway, here's her update: "did give it a little extra, but there has just been so much heavy rain that I can't imagine that it needs any more. The ground around it does not seem dry at all. Leaves do not look any better. Wonder how hers is?? I'm going with what that other person said about them being "drama queens" - probably upset with NOOOOO SUN - just like all the rest of us! :-) Today it is not raining and it is partly sunny, though." It is a Hibiscus Copper King.

Both posts are right on.
I think the leaves look like this due to low light conditions.
The leaves are very green, which is another clue that they're in low light.

Thank you everyone-- I am sure it is a lighting issue--
yet would never have figured it out on my own
How would you suggest I use grow lights?? I have a fluorescent grow light under the cabinet my hubby put in
yrs ago for me-- have not used it much--
perhaps a new bulb is in order ???
Do u think this will work and if so- like how many hours a day etc. cuz it sure is cloudy and drab here this time of year
Now for the new replacement windows with insulated Low E/Argon gas filled glass--we had put in year ago-- not good for plants I hear ????
I simply need to have these Jades happy and healthy--
able to grow into some of those large beautiful plants you post on this site

Yes they are from same plant I am pretty sure
I did post more questions yest about lighting and misting
now I will just sit tight and hope to get through the winter

The reason I asked if they were from the same plant.
There are numerous Crassula species. All types of Jades.
I have one, somewhere, lol, w/droopy leaves. It's not the standard C. ovata which has firmer foliage.

Of course, Jades love sunlight. Still, I was wondering if, by chance, your Jade is a different variety. Is it possible?

Maybe it's my eyes, but the leaves on your plants don't look like C. ovata/common Jade.
