I'll be visiting a plant distribution market in 3 hours, opening times are 2am - 9am so I'm hoping to get 5 - 15 trees for a third of retail price. No idea what they'll have there, I don't expect much at all but ideally I'll be looking for these as trees for starting 2 completely fruiting hedges: A gage type plum. Another sweet eating plum that could cross pollinate my Victoria if I'm lucky. A nectarine and one or two peach. Peregrine is by far the most widely sold peach here, any other variety available will be an unexpected bonus. A sweet cherry. Stella is more available as retail lately but I'd take any I've heard good things about to compliment my single sunburst. Pluots are very restricted in the UK at present, 2 varieties available from 2 companies at elevated prices with other hybrids like aprium not even available. Seeing these there is hoping for too much but there's still hope :) I'd also buy fruiting shrubs I expect are there like elaeagnus, gaultheria, aronia and any ribes and vaccinium that stand out I'll buy. The UK market for fruit plants has been small and restricted as long as I can remember, very slowly coming around with things like honeyberry being introduced at retail level. Just glad I've done the research on species to get, I'm just more or less clueless on varieties of common fruit so it's going to be guesswork with them.

Years ago I ordered a lime tree from the same company. It takes them forever to ship out. I received the tree after about a month of waiting. Calling and giving bad reviews didnt help. When the tree arrived it was exactly what i expected for the price: a small rooted cutting. It was a great tree to practice citrus culture on because it was so inexpensive...I eventually killed it and learned from the growing experience. My current citrus are from Four Winds.

Punky, It's doubtful you'll get production for years (especially if they're crowded like that). Is there really no way you can separate them? People aren't joking--the most vigorous one will take over, leaving the other two to wither and fade. On the plus side, you have three different cultivars to play with. Honestly, I think having three separate trees is better than all grafted on one--but that's personal preference. Embrace this unexpected gift! Separate them and see where it goes! And if you REALLY can't separate them, pick your favorite one... if it's not the most vigorous of the three, cut the other two so it has a chance to survive. -Tom

The most recently posted Long Island street view is from 2012! No proof they are still there after the 2 polar vortex winters. And the other recent winter that was very cold in New England but not as much down here. (2016 IIRC: well below 0F on Martha's Vineyard. Have no idea how LI fared) They often look out of place in typical residential settings but I think those twin Seattle trees suit the house and are well taken care of so I give them a pass! Good catch GG. I am actually wondering if the NW DC, Bethesda, and Baltimore trees survived this horrid summer...by far the most humid I can remember. We barely had any comfortable dewpoints throughout September, not until the last few days. USUALLY cold fronts start pushing in some crisp weather by the 2nd week of Sept. It was a constant steambath since May. And yes it is humid compared to the PNW, but constant dewpoints 70F or above are not normal at least up here. There's a reason you see at least a few old ironclad rhodies in the DC/Baltimore area, but none in the deep south. And other than the late June/early July drought/heatwave - just long enough to be a nuisance - incredible rainy spells, one after another. I'm lucky to have only lost a couple important rhodies to root rot. OTOH it was nice to not worry about watering the 6 or so new planted camellias in my garden. They are so thirsty in the first year!
