Local dahlia club tuber sale

Today I went to the local dahlia club's tuber sale down in Salt Lake and picked up a few more tubers. It's not like I need anymore but I just couldn't help myself. They didn't have as many varieties as I had hoped but I did pick up Spartacus, Lovely Lana, Castle Drive, Kenora Challenger, Brookside Snowball and they thru in a Hy Clown for free. I seriously think I have a dahlia addiction :)

I checked them out also LiNDA and I am wondering are you going to put them together with other dahlias of the same color or let them stand on their own. I am setting my garden up this year by color.

At all the tuber sales that I've attended & worked at - including ours- the tubers are grouped according to size first & then alphabetically within that size. So...AA's you have A-Z; then A's-- A-Z -- you get the picture. Also- at our tuber sale the tables are set up in the order they are at the show in Sept- AA's to the left & then going through the A's, B's etc & into the "Others" on the far right. So people who have come to the show make a B-line for the area where they saw the one they wrote on their "wish list" & they don't have to waste a lot of time trying to find the ones they really want -- then they browse after grabbing their favs! The public really likes this aspect of our sale.

Thanks for the info, teddahlia! I was going by what the grower/gardener had written on the tuber for the name. I'll make sure I correct the spelling for my records. I went to the link you included and after viewing the picture and info I must say I'm very happy with my gamble. Thanks again for your help!

I don't plant all of the same color together but I do try to plant complimentary colors together. I have to sit down and figure out where I am going to plant them all, as I have a lot more than I did last year. I did go thur my list and mark off the ones that are 3 1/2 feet or shorter and will put them in another garden where they won't be overshadowed by the taller ones. I will hopefully be planting them in a couple of weeks. Most of mine are already growing in pots and the hot weather last week really helped them grow a lot!
