Someone (cannahavana, I think) posted a picture of their shooting star quilt, made with black background fabric. It's the pattern we used for the October Lotto so the picture might be with that posting. The bright points were a graduation of colors across the quilt. The centers were a print. LOL!!! I've had a business finishing quilts on a treadle for the last five years, so I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I always tell folks that machine quilting isn't easier than hand-quilting, it's just faster. Anyone who thinks that it's easy hasn't really tried it. Here's a picture of me at my treadle table working on my last custom quilting job: What you can't see in the picture is the big custom table that I'm working at which is glassy smooth and big enough to support the whole quilt. The gloves are not to protect the quilt, rather they have rubberized tips that help me grip the quilt to move it around. For the picture I used my nice white ones, but usually I have some gardening gloves with green neoprene that covers not only the finger tips but the whole palm as well. Annie

Yesterday I spent two hours showing two interested friends my quilt photo gallery and the projects I brought to work on here on Maui. I hung my Birds of Paradise wall hanging. I may get some quilting in today during the Vikings game. But Downton Abbey starts again tonight, so that will take my full attention. We had quite a trip here. We left in a snowstorm, had tremendous crowds at the airport, just made our connecting flight, had a slow car ride to our condo because of an accident and got here only to find out rental agent had made a mistake and leased our condo out until 1/3. We got here on 12/29. We were standing in the parking lot in the dark with three carts full of luggage and groceries after having traveled and driven for about 16 hours. We were unhappy to say the least. But she found a place for us for the first two nights, and relocated our renters, so we were finally able to move in on 1/1. Now we're all settled. Yay!
