That's hard to say Sassyo. Did they get really dried out during the heat? Are you overwatering? Have you given them any fertilizer? The 50's at night won't hurt them. I've never grown from seed so I can't really tell you anything. Sorry.

Well, this post is from 2008 I see - but Googling Bishop's Children it came up ... so, to update: Bishop's Children comes in many colors. Some colors have been separated out and re-named, so technically they're both Bishop's Children and Bishop of York. "“Bishop’s Children,” which are sometimes appointed a bishopric of their own (for example, ‘Bishop of York’ or ‘Bishop of Canterbury’). The T & M catalog says you can dig and store the tubers. Have you tried that? How tall were they for you? T & M says they are taller than a couple of other dahlias with burgundy or bronze foliage, Redskin, and one Park's carries, but I thought I remembered them being short. I want to grow some dahlias with dark foliage next spring.
