And I have not room! Not even room for one more..

Now if there was a Clementine or some other sort I do not have, then I might make the room..

They were only 5 dollars for trees once 24! Trees once 79 were cheap tool..Darn it..lol

You might want to chek your local nursery...This caught me off guard just stopping in..

My little 0.63 acre place is also crowded but for $5 I would be sorely tempted to crowd in a few more. Now is probably a pretty good time to plant a new tree. We finally got a really good rain too!

Gandle, I am profoundly sorry for the loss of those buds. I know how important the lilac blossoms in particular are to you and Leonne, and I envy you your proximity to such a collection, even if it is an off year. I was actually thinking of you this morning on my garden walk with Izzy (pictured below). Your postings have forever linked you in my mind with lilacs, and my little dwarfs are just beginning to open up. It was raining ever so lightly, and the lilacs were opening in the background while my tree peonies were opening in the foreground. The smell was amazing. (It was strong and pleasant enough to even mask the scent of "Eau de Wet Dog.") There are three different tree peonies in this picture: The one in the background has purple-y foliage, the one in the foreground has green foliage and identical flowers, and there is one lone bud snaking up on the left... this is the plant that Izzy chewed to the ground when she was a little bitty puppy, and after nearly three years, it is finally blooming for the first time ever... I have no idea what color it will be. I am sorry I do not know the html coding to post Scratch 'n Sniff photos, or I would. I envy you your rhubarb success. I got some clumps from my sister a couple years ago from plants that have been in my family for generations. I shared them with a neighbor, who planted them in a pile of compost and now has an amazing crop, and planted mine and forgot to water them. They're still (barely) alive, but won't be harvest-worthy for at least another year. Again, I am very sorry about the frost damage. Those of us who experience winter to the fullest extent should be entitled to every aspect of spring too. The promise of impending seasonal euphoria is the one thing that keeps me going during the dark months. Perhaps this is nature's gentle way of making you rest your hands? Heaven knows you'd be picking fruit and flowers if they were there. Take it easy, and rest up for fall canning season! The cold may have zapped the apples and such, but you'll still have tomatoes, peppers, and all that lot to look forward to!

Gandle, congratulation to your daughter - and to you and Leone - you done such a good job raising your kids! No wonder you are proud of her. As far as weather - we are heading to the triple digits - It is anticipated that by Thursday it shall go to 105Âº and minimum humidity. We are all hoping that as the Holiday takes place in the middle of the week the idiots with the camp-fires in the woods and the idiots with fireworks will not have enough time to do any damage. It was a very dry winter and the fuel is volatile. Forest Service and the Volunteer Fire Department are on full alert.

REVENGE OF THE PLANTS: I did dump everything un-sprouted yesterday. Couldn't see wasting any more water...ghetto is gone, yard looks lovely. ANYHOO...just as I was dumping last containers when walking by a rose bush it reached out and grabbed my shoelace and tried to wrestle me to the ground in retribution for my actions against its cousins. It succeeded to making me go flat on my face into the mulch. I just laid there think, "Please, God, don't make me have broken my arm or make me die here out in the sun among my beautiful garden" I didn't do either, but that rose bush is going to get a severe pruning! I'm glad to be done...learned quite a bit and am already planning for next year. Like let my grandson WS tomatoes for me, his are doing fabulous. Mine didn't do anything.

We picked up 3 at a 50% off sale, got my list ready for the October sale, but only 40% off at that nursery

My guy got a small orchards worth of Skeena Cherries for the ranch at $10 each (guessing he is going to have his own fruit stand next cherry season)

Hey Mike, now you see my problem! I bought 4 citrus trees in the past month! One was only $8 cheaper, but now they are having a huge BOGO sale, and the trees are 3ft, some are 4ft and to pay $32 for 2!!! I think they have clementine's too, and they do have navels, just not the seedless Washington like I want. Many of them have golf ball sized fruits too! That's where I bought my Tango tree. If they they still have them in a few weeks, I may get 2.

The other sale was really good also! It was a Lowe's but they only had Bears limes, and Improved Meyer lemon trees. They are nice foot tall and wide trees. They were priced at $17.99 and went on sale for $5! I also got another Basjoo banana tree, which was really cool because I wanted to plant one in my backyard.Just go and buy one Mike! You know your going to kick yourself in the pants if you don't!

I will make sure I post here if I do end up buy in the BOGO trees!

That's the thing about California.

1) Good - grow year-round

2) Bad - no big seasonal discounts (see #1)

oh well no $5 citrus for me.

Not to be nosey, but where are you zone 5 and 6 guys finding local citrus sales? I live in NJ and never see citrus at all, never mind being on sale. Every once in a blue moon I will see a fancy nursery that has a big greenhouse have a couple of Meyer lemons, and maybe a Key Lime, but that is it, and they are way over priced.
Am I missing something? If so, please let me know! LOL! Would love to find a place to just walk in and see citrus here in NJ, let alone markdowns! I guess your local Lowes sell citrus as tropicals? I have a bunch of Lowes and Home Deopts here and never once saw a citrus :(

Hah, rhizo, you kill me. Mike, that must have been SO HARD, lol!! My goodness. No more room at the office?? Your office mates must LOVE sitting near your area, especially when those trees are in bloom, how fantastic that must be!! We had a co-worker who was from Cambodia, and grew the most spectacular orchids, and would share them with us. I miss that. We could walk all through our building and see "Smittie orchids" on various desktops all through our company building, it was wonderful.
