3 mile hike today..

salicaceae

My 4 year old son and I went on a 3 mile hike today at Payne's Prairie State Park - about 5 miles from my house. We hiked through some scrub with dwarf oaks (Quercus minima and Q. pumila) and Vaccinium spp. etc., then pine flatwoods with mostly Pinus serotina and Pinus elliottii var. elliottii and then through some hammock. It was very windy and very warm today - great for a hike. Here are photos..You can see typical forests in this area including some impressive Sabals.

I post this here since there are lots of photos of native conifers.
