I am! Better looking than any roses I've ever received from heirloom, no diss intended, the root system and all looked great! High country's roses look symilar( SP?) in comparison. I only have a small green house, and the ones that would fit in it I put in their lol. I plan on buying a bigger one because I don't think I will be able to plant them until next spring , and just pot them up into bigger pots when they need it. Right now they are in one gal. and enjoying the rain since we got some today! then I will put the smaller ones back in the greenhouse until wed, and get a bigger greenhouse for them all! My husband thinks I'm crazy for my love of roses, but I don't care! he has his passions and I have mine!

maryanne: Thanks. Its amazing but I took both photos from my deck. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to aim the camera effectively yet. Both birds flew directly over me and were sailing. The back of my house and deck face a valley with a creek at the bottom about 100 feet or so below the house. The land on other side of the creek rises more slowly to about the same height of my house. The large raptors catch the breeze coming up the hills and they really seem to enjoy it. The vultures are very simple to identify (if I can identify them, anyone can). As you can see, the turkey vulture appears to have a white bottom from tip to tip around the back of its wing. It is large--about 6' across. The black vulture has white only on the tips of its wings and is only about 5' across. Up close the turkey has a red head and the black has a grey head. I've found that the turkey vultures will come down to check me out when I am outside working. They just fly above me about 30' up or so. They will also fly through the woods (when leaves are off the trees) cutting a trail in and out of the trees. I have no idea why they do this since it appears a bit dangerous for a 6' bird. Its almost as if the turkey vultures want to show off. The black vulutres do not do this. They seem more aloof. The read tailed hawk was also enjoying a sail without flapping. That is why I think its tail was completely opened. It was just above me and I couldn't focus on it so I just clicked the camera and looked and there it was--just dumb luck. Last week, I heard what sounded like a death scream in the front yard. I looked up and it was 3 of these hawks making passes at each other. The bald eagles are less common than the hawks here. However, they do land in the trees in back of my house. From the top of the trees, they can survey their kingdom. With some luck, I should get a chance at an image within 100 feet or so.

David, didn't you turn the entire dish purple with the beets?? I've been wondering where to share this information and since I've mentioned my Passport melons and waiting for the Fastbreak cantaloupe (& I'm still waiting for Honey Girl Charentais and watermelons) - I may as well say something more about Passports here. Spring was a very difficult time for the melons. I had a visit from the neighbor during our 1st, belated warm spell. He was nearly standing on a dead melon plant and I was hoping he wouldn't notice and ask about it (and them). The cold, wet weather made the transplanted melon plants so sick, many died. The Honey Girls, that I like so well, must have had about an 80% loss. Turns out that there are no, none, nada, zip, zero cantaloupe out there! I'd assumed that some of the vines were Fastbreaks - nope. Besides the 2 plants (I believe it is) with ripening Charentais melons, and the easily identified watermelon vines - ALL the remainder are Passport galia melons! I've decided NOT to complain. Passport is a fine melon. Here's what Colorado State U says about them: "Very aromatic, nice texture, early season melons seem to be the most flavorful." Here's what Vesey seed company says: "An extremely early honeydew type melon. Combines ultra-earliness, durability, and great flavor. Passport has thick flesh and rich green color, dark green toward the outside, whitish green toward the seed cavity. Unlike muskmelons, the flavor is smooth and the aroma is fresh. Fruit are large averaging 6-7" in diameter and 5-6 lbs. Vines are vigorous and productive. Good disease tolerance. Maturity approximately 80-85 days" Territorial Seed notes that Passport is a "Galia" melon from Israel and claims it matures in 75 days in their gardens. The CSU research on specialty melons encountered an unexpected variable - hail. Loss to the hail storm ranged from 93% to 30% in 14 of the 15 varieties tested (50% loss was about the median). Here is where Passport came thru with flying colors - only a 13% loss from the hail!! My garden's difficult Spring growing conditions showed similar results - Passport makes it thru the border-line growing conditions of Spring cold and storms better than the others! Rather than be aggravated over the loss of the cantaloupe and most of the Charentais - I'm very pleased with Passport. d'S'

Unfortunately, The Liddle Nursery does not have a Web presence (at least I have not been able to find a website for their nursery). I live in the USA, so I would not be able to even venture a guess as to the laws regarding the movement of plants between the states in Australia. If you live in Australia, you could certainly search online for the agriculture department for the state in which you live and then inquire about the laws regarding the transport of plants/cuttings between the states. I know the nursery is located in Mareeba, Queensland.
