Oh thank you. For the fence, I plan climbing roses and vines with large beds in front.
As it stands, I am supposed to get possession on Oct. 22. But as they have yet to buy a house, I told my realtor they could stay another week or so if necessary. They will be paying me $50 a day after the 15th.
My plan is to move there and then get this one ready for market.

It's a wonderful house! Such a pretty yard and I love all the sunlight that pours in the windows inside. The kitchen is just the perfect size and I like the way it's set up. It should be very efficient to work in. The house looks like it was well cared for.

I can totally relate to wanting to live back in town. While I love it here at the ranch it does take a lot of energy and ambition to keep up with everything...something that I too feel like I'm running out of.

Edna, I, too, love the bay window and seat/pot shelf. Compared to my current house the new yard is small, which is the one of the main reasons I selected it. I will be 64 next month and have some physical problems, so time to scale down. In 10 years, I will wish I had gone smaller. I am hoping in town I will be able to find kids to help me.

My realtor is my next door neighbor. The one with the baby/toddler. She really has mixed emotions. She said I have to be very selective when I sell mine. Wouldn't it be nice if the buyers have small children for Caylee to play with?

Memo, the counter on the right is a 5 ft. island. On the other side of that is the breakfast table (where Gina is standing). I am going to take a wait & see attitude on the blue kitchen. Blue is my favorite color, but I usually like a white kitchen to go with all the colors of foods.

Congratulations on your new house, I really like the style, it's got that certain charm that a lot of houses are lacking IMO. The kitchen looks like it was well planned out with lots of counter space.
The bay window with the plant shelf has me a teeny bit envious and I'm more then a teeny bit envious of your covered patio, sez she who is almost porchless.
Having a blank slate to start with has it's advantages, I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned for it.
I hope your move goes smoothly, and you get a buyer that appreciates the house you're selling.

Congratulations!!! What a pretty house. It looks very well maintained and loved. I've got to tell you how much I love the trees, particularly the two in the front that appear to be dancing with each other. The property has excellent bones. The fences are pretty and in great shape. It's all just begging for a talented gardener such as yourself.

Have you met your neighbors yet? I know that they will be glad you bought the property once you get your beds up and running.

Annette, I would not have picked a house with out a large porch or covered patio. My current house has a 40 foot front porch. That will be difficult to give up. It will be hard to leave this house. My DH built it and the last few years before the Alzheimer's got worse, were some of our best.
I am going to get my son to pry out the concrete block that contains my 2 favorite fur babies' ashes. They are in the block wall around the garden. When the landscaper put them in, I never dreamed I would be leaving here, except in a long black car.

Proudgm, That is the current owners' dog. I really had to do some sweet talking to get him to come to me. Once he realized I would not bite, he ran out in the yard with me, and "assisted" in the picture taking.

Steven dahling, thank you for your nice comments. I think y'all need a working vacation.....in San Antonio. I am sure you could come up with ideas to make it appear more cottagey.
I have two 6 ft pieces of butcher block that came from the kitchens of two Walgreen's old lunch counters. I am hoping one will fit the island.

Seriously if any of y'all are ever in the area please email me for my phone # so we can get together.

A life long friend drove me by yesterday to check it out and so I could show her how to get there. She turned in the drive and was slowly driving away and the man next door asked if he could help us. After I told him we were just looking, he said wait a minute. Then he ran over and got us a flier. So I know at least one is nice and friendly. I did not explain who I was.

The trees in front are: a big ash tree, two live oaks and a cedar. My oldest son said, " a big a** tree?". The tree in back is either an ash or a hackberry. Both are trash trees. BUT the small tree in back is a red oak. I plan to pour the water and fertilizer to it. Once it is big, I will have the trash tree cut down. Ash and hackberry are weak and insect prone.

They might not be too thrilled when 4 dogs and a cat move in. My son will cut a dog door through the brkfast room wall. My marmalade cat is 13 years old. She is the one that will have a difficult move. The dogs have traveled to the condo with us, so it won't be a big deal for them. The sheltie barks when planes go over and tries to chase them. The giant C130's are refurbished near the "new" house. So as those suckers fly over she will have a field day.

Boy do I wish y'all were closer. I would have a packing/throwing away part. How on earth do we collect so much cr*p?

Cousin Kathy ~ What a lovely new home! I can see where it would be hard to leave where you are now, but also see why you want to move into new home in town. It is a lovely home inside and out. I think the blue walled kitchen is nice. You can live with it awhile and if you don't like it paint it white. You are going to enjoy planting new gardens. Enjoy the move and don't stress too much. Take plenty of breaks, drink lots of fluids and have fun.

Cousin Flower~the inspection was done yesterday. Very minor things, like a non operating sprinkler head. That's very good news.
I did a better recon of the back yard. There are two rose bushes. Both need feeding and pruning. One is a yellow the other is red with white streaks. Both are screaming for TLC. I am dying to get to that garden. I have to keep telling myself patience grasshooper.

The blue walls are growing on me. My MIL's 83 year old china has a small yellow band with a blue design in the yellow. I am thinking of using some of that to decorate the kitchen.

Now I need to adjust to the lavender master bedroom and bath. I may paint them a pale grayish aqua.

On the way over, Diane spotted some of the necessities, vet, nursery, drug store, and gazillion resturaunts.

That is one fantastic home! I love the front, but the back porch area is just to die for!

Ohh, how nice for you. I wish you many years of bliss in your new home!

I have spent the last two days digging up things. Here most men don't care for the cottage look, so I am going to neaten up the front a lot. Once I am out, I will have Ramiro weed eat a bunch of things and put down mulch. I am going to a local nursery's half price sale, tomorrow, and buy a few "standard" plants to fill in where I took out ones I want.

Hi Kathy ~ I'm glad you are taking some of your country cottage gardens to your new city gardens. Don't work too hard, although we gardeners do not heed that advice very often. ; -)
