Thank you all, my dear, dear friends. Yesterday we had one of those days here at our house -- no water for 36 hours, Freya sneaking a pizza off the kitchen counter, and the smell of fresh polyurethane pervading the cold, damp house.... On the other hand, I had the loving affection of Tom and my DS Jacob, calls and cards from family, and greetings from all of you. And tonight we're going out to dinner to try celebrate again. Carla, Luanne, Jon, Anita, Lori, Ingrid, Sue, Carolina, Pamela, and Carol -- each one of your messages brought smiles and memories to my mind. I just realized that with the exception of Ingrid, I know each one of you in the Real World (as opposed to online) -- Ingrid, we'll just have to correct that soon. Thanks y'all. It has been a nice day. My DIL is not a gardener, so she was really impressed. My son is the gardener and he was amazed, too. They have not been here for about a month. He is busy trying to work and landscape their new house. They will have a deer problem out front. Maybe I should have a plant party for them. We got about 3/4 inch of rain in the wee hours of the morning. Very very thankful for that.

Oh, thank you all for your sweet and kind birthday wishes! I had a wonderful day. Rick headed out of town, with me in tow, and refused to tell me where we were going. We ended up in Mitchell, SD where they were having the Lakota Festival and the Corn Palace Festival. The little city was fairly busy and there were lots of vacationers everywhere. We had dinner (instead of breakfast, as promised) at a new BBQ place there and checked out the fairway at the fair for a while, then spent the remainder of the day shopping. I was allowed to get whatever I wanted as long as it was for me only...no picking anything up for kids or grandkids. That was harder than I thought it would be! No need to worry about his checkbook, I didn't hit it tooooo hard! LOL It was fun to spend a day together and fun to get off the ranch for a day. I'll be enjoying the memories for a long time to come. MeMo

Oh, yes! Happy Birthday, dear MeMo. I hope the rancher got you something nice for your birthday, like maybe forty sections of white picket fence, complete with posts and a posthole digger for the back of the tractor so he can put it up for you. And maybe your daughter made you a cake?

Well bless your hearts! Martha thank you for thinking of me on my birthday, that was so sweet of you to remember! ThinMan, thank you. The Rancher did give me some special treats for my day. A new, light weight, vacuum cleaner, a wonderful light weight steam iron and many yards of new fabric. I spent the entire day in the house alone (at my request, they needed a push to get going on the second cutting of alfalfa anyway Ha!) and sewed my little heart out making new kitchen curtains from the fabric the Rancher gave me. I turned the TV to a 70's music channel and just worked away. It was sheer bliss! And yes, my daughter did bake me a cake...jello confetti with confetti ice cream...yummy! I love the poem, Edna, thank you. FoxesEarth, wishes granted...thank you very very much! To the rest of you...many many thanks for the warm wishes. I love you all so much!
