Well, your description sound like a maidenhair fern (genus Adiantum). The most common one in cultivation is Adiantum capillus-veneris; a search on that name should turn up some pictures. There are a number of other maidenhair ferns in cultivation as well, though, so it could be one of a number of species. Most of the commonly cultivated species are pretty similar in care to Adiantum capillus-veneris, though. The gist is: don't let the soil dry out, ideally give it some humidity, and bright indirect light or partial sun... a humid climate is definitely good, although it's debatable if misting would provide any benefit if you weren't in a humid climate. As bboy said, 1 is a Portulacaria (I think probably Portulacaria afra). It is Elephant Bush, Elephant Food, and various other nicknames, and is sometimes called Dwarf Jade, but it is not truly a jade -- jades are in the Crassula genus, a different genus of succulents. [Though they resemble each other, Jade plants and Portulacaria afra are not in the same genus, not in the same family, and not even in the same order. My ferns do well in Al’s 5-1-1 mix (pine bark, sifted peat & sifted course-grade perlite. they do like a little more sun than most people think. and like watered often, but also to dry out fairly quickly. if you get outside much to the woods, you will notice most ferns grow at the edges of woodlands, on sloping, rocky or rolling ground and oftetn near creeks streams or rivers. So bright shade, lots of humidy, keep evely moist, in well draining soil but dont let the soil dry all the way out, just drier than damp, if that makes sense. Thats how I take care of mine & they have done well for the last 6 yrs. Although 2 of the ferns in my mixed fern bowls are getting huge & shading out the others, so Ive had some browning fronds lately from teduced light. A repot is in order this week.
