What's wrong with my kaffir lime?

I recently moved into a new house and was delighted to find a small kaffir lime tree in the backyard. Except it was infested with aphids, spiders and covered in sooty fungus. I'm in Australia, and we're just coming out of a cold winter into Spring, so I pruned back all the really infested leaves, and sprayed the rest with white oil. Then I added a little generic fertilizer, and two weeks later put on some blood and bone. I didn't know the thing about not putting it too close to the roots (I do now!). Now my tree has dropped almost all its leaves, and the branches have gone yellow. The leaves are turning brown at the bottom, and spreading to the tip. The leaves and branches feel quite sticky to the touch. I'm not sure whether I've overfertilized, or whether its the cold, or my pruning, or whether it has another disease. Help!
