Not an ideal combo of plants - if humid/moist enough to keep the selaginella (aka spikemoss or arborvitae fern) happy, it will be too humid/moist for the succulents sharing the terrarium (looks like a little sedum or stonecrop under the echeveria looking specimen).

There are scads of different types of ferns and many have quite different growing requirements. And some grow very slowly. It's not really possible to tell what might be up with yours without knowing what kind it is. Photos?? FWIW, the majority of ferns prefer to grow in moist (not wet) shade......a woodland setting. Some will tolerate very dry shade conditions (as they grow naturally under the canopies of large trees). Many will grow in nearly total shade. I've never fertilized a fern in my life, other than mulching. Not sure there is much wrong with letting nature do it :-) ps. the 'spikes'/leaflets are usually referred to as fronds.

Eric, if you go to Pickering's website, they have instructions on planting bare root roses. Follow their instrucions and you can't go wrong. A very important instruction is to hill up bare roots with soil (10") for winter protection and drying, which is sometimes forgotten. There has always been a planting instruction sheet in my orders, so I'm surprised too that there wasn't one in your order.

I planted about 12 ostrich ferns I bought on EBay last fall. I have a big woodland area and I planted them in different areas of my property. They all grew and are about 3 feet tall and beautiful!! My question is because I planted them in different areas will they multiply as fast as if I planted them together? How fast do they multiply? Should I do anything to help them along. I am so excited about the beauty they add to the landscape.
