Variegated Pink Eureka Lemon & zone question

I'm new to the site and to citrus plants/growing. I did a search about the lemon in question, and am now a bit scared that I got one that won't produce well. Are the Variegated Pink Eureka Lemons really that bad to handle, or do they just seem to be a harder variety to get to produce? I know it's cold sensative; so here I'll have to bring it in for the winter, right?

My second question is I'm in zone 7b/8 (depending on what book/site you look at). It's Athens, GA. Are there any citrus plants that will grow outside in this area? The meyer lemon? Limes? These are the two varieties I would love to grow, but I don't want to put the $$ into them if they are going to die. If needed,I have no problem covering them for the winter... Is there a prefered way for their survival?

Thanks for any and all help offered.

Erin
