Let's post outdoor pics. I have Spring Fever!
Comments (78)KitchenKelly, have you seen the WinterSowing forum here on GW? Its a fun way to garden through the winter (although mine is short in GA!). I only found it this winter so i am not an expert but their FAQ page is very informative and the people on that forum are really nice and helpful. Basically, you sow seeds (they have long lists of seeds that are suitable for wintersowing) and leave them outside (covered) in the depth of winter, and they germinate nice and early and with a really good rate. There are amazing photos over there of whole flower beds that have come from wintersown seeds. I have several pots of perennial seedlings ready to plant out! I used to live in Rochester MN. I really miss how beautiful MN is in the winter. Although i do remember tiring of it by March! Hope spring comes soon for you :) Here is a link that might be useful: wintersowing FAQs...See MoreSpring Fever???
Comments (15)Happy St Paddy's Day to All of You! I thought I posted to this last night but apparently I did something wrong cuz I sure don't see it. I had a client tonight that I just finished up with so thought I'd jump on and see what's new and had a wonderful surprise with to new projects posted. Thanks Anj and Luvs for sharing your new projects and doing some inspiring. Bebe, I can hardly wait to see some pictures from the wedding so don't forget to let us in on what's going on and what your making. We finished moving the kids out on Sunday evening and the new home isn't quite finished so I have extras here and that's just fine with me. Like I need more excitement in my life. I have an early appointment on Thursday morning in Msla so will have to head out at 6-6:30, then plan to pick up our taxes after that. Have a hair appointment back up here at 1:30. Will be helping the kids do some moving into the house every night now after work. It is going to be pretty lonely here when we get them all moved back in but then I should have time to paint. I played WII for the first time last week end and it was a blast. I didn't get to bowl or play golf yet but I'm wanting to see what the exercises are. How funny that all of you have the WII too. My son always has the latest and greatest when it comes to anything electronic. We had a bad snow storm this morning and it took a life. Their predicting 4-8 inches by Thurs. but with it being warmer now most days it shouldn't last to long. I am totally ready for Spring except I don't have time in my life for yard work so I guess the weather is waiting on me!!! Still so thankful for the business staying busy but someday my life will have to slow down or I will have to retire earlier than planned. I had so many waiting in line today and my multi tasking was pretty amusing to some of the clients. Have you ever been on 3 lines and two computers and still have other customers at the same time? Well I have to tell you that I just flunked the multi tasking today because I messed up the conversation with a couple of my customers. I was trying to sell this lady a leather case and she wanted a cigarette lighter adapter for her car and by the end of this conversation the whole place was rolling with laughter as I told her I knew that's what she wanted but since I was so busy why couldn't she just work with me this once. LOL Maybe I will have to just buy the WII and get to exercising and it will make me feel younger huh? It's almost midnight so gotta hit the hay. Oh whatta week! Punk...See MoreIs it Spring Fever? Comments (17)What gorgeous sinks, Lesterd! Just what I needed. Another obsession. ;-) Love that lampshade, Loribee! It's so fresh and pretty! Last night I fell asleep dreaming of waking up this morning and heading to the paint store. I dreamt of transforming my living and dining rooms with a soft, clear green on the walls. When I got up this morning and padded into the front room with my coffee, even though I was still bleary-eyed from sleep, I had to admit my dreams were only that ... dreams. What I have going on now just works, all the way around. The wall color goes with the new drapes (which reminds me, I need to post pics of the new drapes!), plays well with the rug, blends nicely with the throw pillows and artwork and other accessories. I have made some very minor additions to the living room that seem to soften and feminize it a bit. New lace panels on the fireplace-flanking windows, a little old English teapot that I picked up for fifty cents at a yard sale last week, an old (1950s) metal tray from England with a floral design, vintage orange(!) gingham pillows on the sofa. This morning it dawned on me that it's starting to feel like a very eclectic space, and I like that. I'm focusing on adding more soft touches to our guest room. Just bought a duvet from an Etsy seller (white with sweet, scattered hibiscus on one side, reversing to cabana stripes in sherbet shades on the other), and am going to be replacing a couple of prints with vintage botanicals. I also feel like decluttering in there a bit, as there's just too much going on at the moment. I originally decorated that room with sort of a beachy/tropical theme - and I still like the tropical thing but want to take it in more of a floral direction and less of a beachy one. One last indication that my "old tastes" are still ever-present: This morning I stopped by a neighbor's yard sale and couldn't walk away without buying the antique framed painting of a Native American man. There's part of me that's still very much drawn to the images of the southwest U.S. and Mexico - and the darker and/or more intense colors that are attendant to that style. I'm becoming more and more convinced that what I have is a split personality. But I'm choosing to call that eclectic. Oakley, I want to see those shoes! :-)...See MorePost your 2019 Spring bulb pictures here!
Comments (173)mazerolm, people tell me I have a short growing season! You must have a love for the garden and flowers to make the effort in z3. It's all looking so good! This year I've had some "no shows". Maybe because of our record breaking rain? Last fall I planted 50 Muscari, comosum plumosum and 10 Ornithalum that I haven't seen yet. They may still show up, but the clock is ticking! Still have alliums around the yard.... One patch of white giant alliums..... Hyacinthoides hispanica...See MoreNHBabs z4b-5a NH
