Those in ground have a deep layer of composted horse manure over them, and I haven't had to hand water them yet! Thank God, I couldn't water them in my condition anyway! We are behind in our rain for the month so far. Get your list together soon, I'm selling the best angels fast! I have only a few special angels that are not listed on my site. Hi, I live in Saigon where it is hot and humid. I have a kumquat tree in a pot on my balcony which I got at the end of June last year. It arrived in a black plastic sack and looked a bit sorry. I planted it in a largeish pot with fresh compost and it responded by growing loads of new leaves, and after a couple of months it was covered in flowers which filled the balcony with lovely scent. Then came the fruit. About six weeks ago the leaves turned yellow and a few dropped. The leaves have white/grey flecks, which are a leaf coloration and not mites or anything like that. About two weeks ago it started to flower again and now we have what looks like a sick tree with both flowers and fruit on it. I have attached a link to a pic of the leaf coloration (its in my drop box). Can anyone please advise how to make my tree healthy again? Citrus in general love full sun (finger limes being the exception that i'm aware of - they like partial).. If it's been in ground for 5 months, it should be fully acclimated. How close is it to your lemon.. is that two plants (your BO and lemon) in the one picture? My BOs (Moro is my primary, Sang is secondary) love sun, and thrive in full sun and heat here (hitting 100+ in summer on occasions on the east coast). If your base soil is like San Diego, it's sandy, so super good drainage. But your primary soil around the plants could contribute to problems, whether from packed soil or bad pH. I agree with the others that it generally looks healthy. If that is two plants in one picture, I'd move them apart. They'll be at need at least 5-6 foot diameter even on dwarf stock (unless you don't want the lemon, then I'd cut that as it's competing for nutrients). Quick add - looked up LA... you're about 65% peak sun right now (assuming no obstructions).

And that tree contracted those mites in the first places for good reason. Either your mix is just too moist and compacted along with decayed to allow any roots to get sufficient oxygen properly and or nutrients, that does not allow all the salt deposits to run out from the pot. . Too much root damage causes the tree to look like a desert to mites and any other pests. Did you see fungus gnats at all in the winter or even now? I would re pot that tree asap with a fresh open mix and water it in well. As they say it is better to prevent an issue before it even crops up) You said Aloe? Oh they can get mites and hide in places you would never think of. But when you spray them I would not use neem since that can be harsh and burn most succulents. Use a good horticultural oil that is much lighter and that cause less damage. Or you can soak those plants under soapy water for 15 minutes. Them and the eggs will drown.
