I believe the answer is 'yes.' I think I remember someone else saying (Benny maybe?) that they got their rootstock from suckers.

Yes you can, but the cuttings will not have a tap root for added support.

No it won't. Potted citrus it will make no difference.

The tap root is the main root that is sent deep down into the ground. It is the first root you will see from the seed. To put it in easy terms, it is the plants anchor. They take up water from deeper in the ground when the top layer of earth is dry. Plants without a tap root are also more prown to being uprooted in high winds.

Gina your not far down the road from me. As you know we do get hurricanes & tropical storms quite often. Personally I would not plant any cutting grown trees in the ground in this area. Look at the Bradford Pear trees around here. They have a very shallow root system & every time we have a tropical storm come through you see hundreds uprooted.
