LOL. That reminds me of the tree in the Charlie Brown Christmas movie. I've enjoyed your POTD and appreciate your posting them.

Mary it is amazing what a child remembers from the days when they were helping their mom's ..grandma's :-) garden. I do remember so much from my mom :-) Deb I am so glad you liked the little thank you pictures. ha ha ha you know. I was only a mailcarrier for 7 years but I did learn that it is a crime to open mail not addressed to you roflmao. No it would have taken the SPECIAL suprise away when we all gathered to open the package :-) As for the shells I want to build a congrete wall with soil build up above the ground high enough so I can plant a tree and know that it has soil to grow on and not just rocks lol. So the shells will get stuck on the outside. Think it will work? Kristy it was real good that Maddy got a bear from Deb. That meant that I did not have to share the one I got from Lucy Lou lol Yes thank you, feeling good enough not to have to stay in bed all day. Lucy

Good morning everyone! Lucy that is a pretty dahlia..We picked up some tubers this weekend while we were out and about...I saw on the weather channel it was in the 80s in texas yesterday..Isnt that spring? Lol We had a nice day it was 60 yahoo..Spring is here :) Good luck dorothy on your dahlias.... All the seeds I traded for and bought this year and I forgot my impatiens..ahhah I need a new brain...

Ok, I pooped out much too quickly and wasn't getting anything done and the sod cookie mystery got me so here is what I think happened. They didn't have self rising flour back then so could it be soda and they forgot to write the a ? I found this recipe but doubt its the same as yours but the only one that had anything like sod in it, lol. It does say on most they can be made up to a month early and are better with age as Lucy said. I ate nearly my whole bag of candy and the orange last night, lol. Thanks again. Here is the recipe I found. Sounds yummy. 8 ounces candied citron 4 ounces candied orange peel 4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon ground cardamom 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 teaspoon aniseeds 5 eggs, separated 2 tablespoons butter (at room temperature) 1 1/2 teaspoons grated lemon peel 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar 2 to 3 tablespoons milk Additional confectionersÂ sugar Coarsely grind citron and orange peel with grinder fitted with coarse blade; set aside. Sift flour with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda and pepper. sprinkle anise seeds over flour mixture. Set aside. In large mixing bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, beat egg yolks with butter and lemon peel until smooth. Reduce speed to low and beat in granulated sugar. Set aside. Beat egg whites in clean mixer bowl with electric mixer or by hand until stiff peaks form. On low speed of electric mixer, gently fold reserved egg yolk mixture into beaten egg whites. Blend in reserved flour mixture, using your hands. Blend in reserved coarsely ground candied citron and orange peel. Shape dough into balls the size of a small walnut; place balls, 1 inch apart, on ungreased baking sheets. Let stand, uncovered, 8 hours, or overnight. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 15 minutes or until double in size and lightly browned. Remove from baking sheets and let cool to room temperature. Mix confectioners' sugar with enough milk to form thin glaze; drizzle glaze over cookies. If desired, after glaze has hardened, shake cookies gently in paper bag containing additional confectioners sugar.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and also try to fill some holes in your story. This whole thing could have certainly been handled better, for both parties. It was an unfortunate mistake on their part, but would you rather they'd gotten it done faster with the wrong wood? Everyone makes mistakes. If I was faced with a potential 4 week delay without a stove I'd go to a used appliance store the first day, buy a cheap stove, bring it home, use it, then donate it later. In a 3 to 4 week period it's not unreasonable to think the furniture situation could have been remedied to make your lot more palatable. You could have prevailed on the floor man to set up your rooms and he would have likely complied. Now let me address the 48 days vs. 7 to 10 days. Where did the 7 to 10 day timeframe originate? It sounds implausible, at least the way I do floors. When the proper floor arrived, how soon was it installed? How long did it take to install? Did they start sanding and finishing right away? How many square feet of flooring was there to sand and finish? What type of finish was used. Answers to these questions will determine how long it really should have taken. Most of this is really pointless at this point because as the tired saying goes, it is what it is. From a retailer's perspective, if you didn't pay me, I'd lien your house. Once I liened your house (which takes my time and costs money) I'd be far less willing to provide any price concession. I would suggest you be proactive to make a settlement. The time you lost is water under the bridge but the floor finish is a real issue. Ask the retailer how much he would charge you to sand and finish the floor and suggest he deduct that amount from the bill. Tell him that in the future, you'd expect him to do the job for that amount of money, to keep him honest. In fact, make him give you a written estimate with no expiration date. I've done that in the past when something didn't turn out well and there was no time to re-do the job. Contact another reputable finisher for a quote so you can compare. Or get the other quote and deduct it from the invoice. PLEASE, PLEASE don't burden another finisher with a long tale of woe. While I might derive a little schadenfreude from hearing of the shortcomings of one of my rivals, I don't want to get the impression that a potential customer will be difficult to work for. Someone who tells me that a 7 day job took 48 days doesn't come across as reasonable when I know that it's not a 7 day job. Keep it short and simple.

When we had x mas celebration at night on the 24th, we HAD to sing! My dad was deadly serious about it! As a kid we always giggled about it and he got real mad. As an adult and things happeing in life. The times we did get to spend x mas together and sang. I did not giggle anymore.
For I understood now what CHristmas really means and for my father that was always clear as long as I can think back.
To this day when I sing silent night, my dads one song he put his soul into when he sang it, you could hear it in his voice. I choke up and cry.
Since my dad died 10 years ago I just can not sing it anymore for I miss him to much. In a good way. Not sadness.

But I AM happy that my x mas tree did exactly what it was suppose to do for ya. You know I decorated it JUST for this special picture of the day :-)))) ha ha ha normally I do not think I would have come up with that idea lol. I feel sorry for you all. It will be a long brutal winter hahahahahahaha

I'm trying to play catch up on post. LOL Lucy, some Christmas brug! Think you should have added a few fake leaves, LOL! Well at least it will be warm with those lights.

I am glad you all liked this different kind of x mas tree and who did not like Charlie Brown! lol

Eloise actually, this year I switched to LED lights and they stay as cold as when they are off. That is the beauty. Otherwise I would not have put lights on the poor thing lol.
