is this a pinus contorta subspecies? lava flow area.

Found growing on volcanic slopes near a HUGE obsidian pile in Northern California. Note, this is not on the Mendocino Coast and is not the "pygmy" subspecies found there.

Very high, melting snow still present in July.

Pumice Slide nearby, Lava that cooled recently, probably within last 10,000 years, I believe it's either Jeffrey or Ponderosa Pine in background, as well as lots of Abies Concolor...
