How can I make my mantel POP? Pictures
Comments (133)Oakleyok, you have a gorgeous fireplace! I love the stone. Your DH has a reason to be proud! I was entertained by reading this thread of suggestions. You asked how you could make your mantel POP and you were told to paint, replace the mantel itself, removed the mantel, etc. Last week I asked about a paint color for my DR and posted my inspiration photo. I also stated that I didn't have to have that room exactly but was wondering how the paint color would look with my lighting, floors, furniture etc. I did get some good feedback but now it seems I must repaint my trim, paint my table, remove my blinds, paint my china cabinet....and the list goes on. All great suggestions but I really just wanted to ask about paint color :) But it did help me think about things and I have decided to paint my table. I had NEVER even thought about it before organicnoob suggested. Good luck with your lovely mantel!...See MoreHelp make this dining room pop!
Comments (8)Is the buffet the tall black piece in the back? I'm seeing a disconnect between that, the brown furniture and the white claw feet of the table. I would definitely stain the feet brown. Please change the light fixture for something less Victorian. If you plan to leave the table against the wall on the right I would take all the clutter off it and find something decorative to put on it. Does the bench have to have the material draped over it? Find some curtain panels for each side of the two windows, making the rods long enough that the panels don't cover the windows and whatever structure is underneath the back window. Finally, a beautiful patterned rug, perhaps an Oriental, that covers most of the floor would pull everything together, assuming you have enough room that the chairs will be on the rug when they're pulled back and that this will still leave at least one foot of flooring all the way around. It would be a good idea to post more pictures from different angles to get a more complete idea of this room....See MoreMake this room pop
Comments (36)Is the console with the TV centered directly across from the fireplace? If not, I would move it further to the left to center it. The furniture is not centered on the fireplace currently and would look better if it was. The coffee table should be moved closer to the chairs and the sofa pulled further onto the rug. The common elements in the inspiration photos seem to be an injection of color and some drapes. I like the suggestion for the long low console where the armoire is with some art over it , but tall bookcases might look better since you have a TV console on the opposite wall already. Then you could put the art over the mantel where you really need a hit of color. I'd also add drapes to the windows and a plant in the corner by the windows. Some pillows with color and pattern would be great too. It's a lovely room already! It just needs some finishing touches!...See MoreIdeas for Nightstand for Bed + Rug + Great Color to make room POP !
Comments (0)Hello all. I received this brand new platform bed for free, and I'm not crazy about it (HATE the Silver trim, my hand to God, it's actually silver glitter,) Also, it's a little too large for the guest room I'm going to use it in and I still need to add TWO new nightstands (as I promised I would to the person who gave it to me for when they come to stay, they both want their own nightstand.) I'm thinking of painting the trim on the bed, Pewter, in a Hammered finish. The nightstands can be no longer than 19 WIDE and needs at least 1 drawer, 2 or more would be preferable. My Nightstand Questions: 1) What style would match this bed? 2) Should I paint the new nightstands to match the Pewter trim? 3) Should I paint the Nightstands something totally different? 4) If I choose a different material, such as Metal... would have it match the bed and could I find one with drawers? Also, I'd like to paint the wall behind the bed it a great NEW color to make the room POP! I have so many rooms in my house that have white/beige or taupe walls, I'd like this room to "stand out" a bit. I 1) I'm thinking Green, Blue or maybe even Red? 2) What Greens, Blues or Red is trendy there days? 3) No Oranges, Yellows, Lime Green, Pink, Brown, etc. please.) 4) My concern is, is this bed set too dark for a Green, Blue or Red wall? After all this, I still need a RUG to break up the wood bed from the new wood floors we just put in this room. So Rug ideas to match: Bed Nightstands Accent Wall Paint... That's "all"... lol Thanks everyone!...See MoreRelated Professionals
