FIRST THING .... gardens are NOT static ... you plant things.. they live.. they die.. and you move things around over the years ... a planned garden is a plan that last one year... the next year... well if you make mistakes ... you have to fix them .. so don't get to wound up in making the perfect plan ... moving your plants.. is easy if done at the right time of year.. and getting your hands in the soil is what makes your thumbs turn green ... SECOND ....use google.. and google images page .. to search out the plants you are interested in .. and see pix of how big things get .... GG are HUGE TREES .... in later life... for the first 5 or 10 years.. you can plant anything near them.. but in 10 or 20 years... they may be buried by the tree .... look for Degroots spire for a thin conifer that will give you height with minimum width ... allowing for the garden you dream of ... i don't know your zone.. as i am not sure the 1 by your name indicates such .. or you might be in the arctic ... i have 5 acres ... and i planted GG ... if you are in suburbia .... GG might be way out of your allotted space ... emerald green .. take forever for vertical growth .. and you might not get the height you need in your lifetime... in my experience .... i guess what i am trying to express ... is don't let the potential of what might happen in 20 years .. stop you from planting things that make you happy now... you can always fix it later.. that is what gardening is all about.. So...... as the seller, I am expected to have a completely empty house, with ALL the work that entails, for the final walk through? What, may I ask, is the point of a walkthrough? I would assume it is one last check to make sure nothing is wrong, as subjective as that sounds, before closing. That being the case it would appear that I the seller am burdened with hoping the all powerful buyer doesn’t back out the day before closing after secretly finding out they’re pregnant. Thus, leaving me with the work of moving back into the house paying movers for nothing and then resetting the home for showings. Forgive my vulgarity but this sounds dumb as hell.

If I set posts in concrete, I'll dig the hole, tamp the bottom, set the post, then add a few inches of the gravel that came out of the hole back in to the hole, surrounding the base of the post. I'll then pour the concrete to fill the hole. The concrete will form a concrete collar or ring around the post instead of concrete bucket. Last year when I was expanding my pool equipment pump/filter area, I had to pull and relocate a few 5x5 cedar posts that had been in the ground for about 18 years. I thought I was going to have to replace them, but they were in surprisingly good shape, good enough to clean up and reuse.

Got it on branch cuts. The area in which they dug is an area that was previously mulched and that is on my property, but there's not much left. I plan to mulch it at some point. Since the dirt is so dry and exposed now, I was thinking that this would be a great time. Just concerned with roots that have been exposed and grown bark... For watering, is something like an inch of water once or twice a week before the ground freezes the right amount? Probably taper off to once a week after the first week or two especially if it rains
