No pictures but I have three citrus trees in terra cotta pots on my back porch. They only get rainwater which I save in a rain barrel near by. They were each about 24" when I bought them about three months ago. All had small fruit already and all of them were in bloom as well. I have an improved Meyer lemon, Mexican lime and a satsuma orange.

I pulled off the fruits that were already on the plants and used a paint brush to pollinate the new blooms on each one. Most of the blooms then set fruit. But when the weather got warm enough to move them outside I repotted them out of their nursery pots into large terra cotta pots and replaced most of the soil they were in. I used a potting mix that I make from compost(hommeade), lava sand, greensand, peat, and perlite.

They suffered a short setback after repotting and lost some of the immature fruits. I also trimmed a couple of branches that made the trees seem lopsided. All of them have started to grow again now and all of them still have some fruit. The satsuma has the most with about 24 oranges. All of them are about the same size at 1.5" diameter. The Meyer lemon only has about 8 fruits and all of them about 1". My Mexican lime has the fewest fruits, only 3, but they are firmly attached and growing.

These little guys will spend the summer on the porch and will then winter in the greenhouse. I've never grown citrus before and have been following this forum for the past couple months. I've really leaned a lot about citrus trees and growing them from you folks and I appreciate it. Cheryl

Ive got no new pics since they were all locked up for the winter, i only put the small ones outside last week, ive kept all the rooted cuttings from last year, im giving them all a week or two to look a bit healthyer with the sun before photos!

i have a few pics from march thi year, of 2 of the large trees i keep outdoors all the time as there to big to get into the house or greenhouse, the plan was to bring them in, it never happened

I kept this outside all winter its a pot about 300L, i had 3 sets of christmas lights on it, plastic covering the pot to stop water getting in and frost fleece over the top,It had no damage from the frost at all, it was just getting some new growth when i u8ncovered it(about 10 inch on the top in a few places) and a few flower buds on the top just forming, today it is covered in buds and hundreds of new branches forming most over a foot so now it might start to look like its a tree, its going to be big!

We had -15C for a few weeks dropping lower to more like -20C this year, we have never had it this cold ever, the pots next to the lemon have apple/pear/cherry trees (50L to 100L), they all froze solid they too seem fine

The frost stuck the frost cloth to the tree as i had it too tight then it all went wrong one night in february, one very cold night about -20C, with the snow on top the lights came unplugged, the leaves froze to the cloth, not as bad as it looks though, it looks great now its been trimmed and grown a bit

I chopped all the dead bits off and its growing mad now as well, some new photos soon

Mine are in the ground. Here is some pictures I took this evening of my lemon tree. The leaves never seem to look good but I have about 15 fruit set and they all look really good so far. This is the first year I am getting fruit - so excited.

Below are pictures of our potted citrus. The first picture is our oldest Improved Meyers Lemon that I was worried about earlier this year. You advised that I be patient and this is what it got me. I was tempeted to remove the fruit, however they have grown a little, and the tree has a lot of new growth. The second is an also an Improved Meyers Lemon, that we happened across while I was being patient and decided to get it just incase.
The next is a MIHO Satsuma Orange that we acquired this year. It has several oranges on it right now.
The last is a Lime Tree we came across in a nursery we do not know the variety. It was only labled as Our Favorite Lime.

Right now my Gardenias are taking a well deserved "break". I think they are mostly done blooming for now, its been in the mid 90's here and its just been brutal. I have them all under some FL Oak trees to give them a little shelter from too much sun and heat, lol...Take Care!

Boom, Wow!! You have a lot of citrus. You're in zone 10 so I know they can grow in the ground with little worry of frost...do you just like them in pots so you can keep them small? That is one of the reasons I have my citrus in pots also, besides I have Mangoes and Lychees planted in the ground, I ran out of room for Citrus,lol..Maybe, that's your reasons too! Great selections you have!! Nice pictures!!

My 24" improved meyer lemon isn't doing so well. After two days of extreme heat for our area in mid may (clay pot, watered every day (3 days in a row) while 90+ degrees. All the leaves have curled under (some very tighly). Lots of fruit in various sizes (ages).

Boom1, what size pots are yours in? As I have 4 in 5-gallon pots and I have 4 mini citus trees that needs to be potted but I will probably put them into 10 or 12" pots for now. but the four 3-foot trees will probably need to be repotted into something large next year so I was wondering as your pots look a lot larger. I survive mostly on the Oklahoma Gardening Forum and have great advice there but have a problem that needs pro advice from you. I have a meyer lemon in a pot seemingly happy except for the brand new ant hill in it. Must have come in over the weekend and I noticed yesterday. I have several fruit and blooms. Ants are not on the tree but coming and going from their hill. Lots of them. I have lost couple very small fruit and have couple of yellowing leaves. Want to treat? What should I do?

There is a member here that is unbeleiably smart baout insects and how to control them, and she has helped a many here!
Post it as soon as possible, before those stupid ants present new insects,such as APIDS, or SCALE anda host of other problems to your trees..ok
Watch how fast that member will help you.
That is a great question, and many ways to rid them, but her advice always works..:-)

Now, as for my pics,I will be posting as soon as I get time. We had several more days of cool and rain, and to tell you the truth, my trees never looked so good..lol
Think we have had 20 out of 25 days days of cold and rain..sheesh..The coldest and cloudiest and wettest June on record! My trees love ot though. Thank God they are in Al's gritty mix, or they might of all died of rot.
