Wanted Double Pink Brugmansia --Cutting/Seed

Hi everyone: I have had a want request over on the Canadian Garden Exchange for a Double Pink Brugmansia for a couple of weeks now with no luck. Does anyone from Canada have a cutting or seed that they would like to exchange for some other type of tropical plant cutting? I presently have a rooted red Mandevilla, Gardenia or Allamanda cutting or red Oleander seed?? I would also be open to seed from someone in the USA if a cutting is not available. If interested in an exchange I would be happy to hear from you. Thanks. Ross.

If your heart is set on a double pink, then I probably wouldn't request seed. In Brugs, there is tremendous variability in the seedlings. Some may be doubles, some may be singles, some may be of a different colour and even deformed.

Like I mentioned to you before, wait until the spring and order from Brugmansia etc. There is also another company in Quebec; Brugmansia Quebec. I have not dealt with them but others I have spoken to have been happy.

Rosco this late...Tom gave you the best advice to get a brug plant.

I do not belief that we are allowed to ship plants to Canada. So the Canadian Exchange forum is really your best bet if you are not trying to buy.

We do have a few Canadian's here in this forum but I do not know if they share of still have cuttings to share.

John; Thankyou for the offer of the double orange Brugmansia. Unfortunately I am requesting the double pink for a specific colour scheme at the front of the house where I had a white brug originally. I think a pink would look great here. I do have a lead on a double pink for next year though so I think I will be okay. Thanks again for your offer. Always good to hear from you. Take care. Ross.

Not at all sure where you live but I am in Burlington and if you remind me in the spring and could possibly come for it, I may be able to give you a cutting from the double pink I registered this year 'Shawnee's Legacy'.I do not mail out cuttings anymore and the plant is already cut back for the winter.

Hi! Thankyou all for the responses to my wanted posting. Yes Greenthumbguy (Tom) did put me on to a couple of Brugmansia sites that were quite interesting, and I wil have to check them out further, but I just thought that I would put my request out there since as I say I had tried the Canadian forum and then decided to post here as this forum is much more active each day. I enjoy reading all the banter between you all and have gathered some good gardening info. I just don't post too often. Thankyou RuthAnn for your generous offer. It is currently being trialed in Albany NY and a gal from NC and one from NJ will be coming to Ontario in the spring of 2010 and taking cuttings back with them. These are first time Brugmansia growers so it may take them a while to get their cuttings to a decent size.

Hi, I live in Windsor, not too far from Chatham, and have gotten a couple of cuttings of double pink brugs. Let me know in the fall and I will see what grew and send you some. One is called Day Dreams, Sam, Mon Amour de Mariel and an orange named Desiree. Betty

Betty: Thankyou for your generous offer. I will keep this in mind next fall after you have had a chance to grow them out.
