I don't grow brugs with the intent of registering them. My record keeping is too haphazard to rely on anyway. I give away the single whites and keep the others. I have about 8 left from ones I've grown from seed but I've only grown a couple dozen from seed to begin with. This year I have a number of seeds from crosses other people have made that I was planning on starting late winter/early spring but looking at everyone's seedlings makes me want to start sooner.

Since you don't sound like ya have the room for big seedlings, I would hold off. I know it's hard! I was even considering cheating and just starting 4-5 of them, for now! Ya know, a little seedling fix!

Mine are started last day of Dec. and are already huge by the time I put them out, in mid- March, and even then, I had to keep running them inside and out, til the last frost around Easter.

Too late I decided to start some Creamsickle x Versicolor Peach and Creamsickle x (Ecuador Pink x Butterfly) but I'm only soaking a few of each. Since I had to plant the seeds from my pod that dropped prematurely I figure what's a few more. I can always move some plants into the greenhouse to make more room here. Of course I told myself not to plant anything but I already have a tray of mandevillas, passion vines, angel wing begonias and Cydista aequinoctialis seedlings that I started a few weeks ago. I have no will power. lol

I have bought some seed .. some BGI and some from the same guy on ebay!!! LOL He swears you can call it what you want.. to me they are all NOIDS unless you KNOW where the come from and do the time.. I have NO problem with a NOID so long as it is something I love.. I hope to try to cross a few this yr. but with the intent of knowing their heritage.. Brenda that Orange Beauty the one with the green throat... OMG!!!! Name or no name I would pay money for that!!! You let me know when it is available.. I want to be the first in line...

Chena I want to be in line behind you! Brenda that orange/green brug is really something. This year I swear I'm going to manage to keep the name tags on the plants. Famous last words, especially for me. lol It's not just brugs that I can't keep the labels on, it's everything. Granted it's usually because Kyle likes to pull the tags out of the pots but I'm just bad about keeping track of things. Right now it's easy to blame him for all my NOID plants. lol

Brenda, could you sell your seedlings, either eBay or a farmer's market? Don't know if garage sales are big in your area, but that could be another place to sell them. Just a thought. Eloise

Ok, wait just a minute. (This is something I learned from Mike) Excuse me, for gently pushing the others out of the way and moving to the front of the pack.Ok, so I did have to stomp on a couple of peoples toes with my garden spiked shoes. I told them I was sorry.

Now Brenda you know I'm the oldest one here and I may not be around too many more years so I need to be the first one to get a cutting of your orange and green brug. I'm sure all the youngsters will understand. LOL

As for the Seedlings Rejects you can send them all to me and I'll pay the postage. Either that of I'll get a u-haul and come get them as soon as you email me.

I'm such a sap for these things. So far all of mine that all of you have so graciously shared with me are doing great. So are all the ones I've bought. I guess it's about time for me to knock on wood.

As for me rooting mine, I've started all of them in water with 1 drop of Super Thrive, and 1 drop of fertilizer, then I spray them about every 14-21 days with a fungicide 3 in 1. So far no noted problems. I used this fungicide on the tops of some of the cuttings that looked like they were getting mold, or soft or something, and it stopped it.
Don't know if it will work on all of them but I suspect it would.

Now, I'll be waiting on that email Brenda. I only have 35 acres to plant some of your rejects. LOL

Cull the rejects if they aren't worth registering, honestly you will be doing us all a favor!! LOL

I can't yet bring myself to do that yet. Heck, I have a hard time tossing extra cuttings into the compost pile. lol

Uh-oh, now I'm between a rock and a hard place!! lol!!!

I'm very attached to some of my seedlings but don't think they would necessary appeal to others.

Karma did address the real issue- unspoken-- which is, do we want a bunch of no name brugs floating around out there in America??? ................I already have some named ones that I won't grow again.
