I'd say by the end of winter you'll have established top growth -another month or so and you'll see the beginnings of it/them.

These cuttings had rooted over this spring and I put them out this summer - you can see they love it outside, at least they did this summer (an atypically cooler one).

the time it takes will vary depending upon your season, your location, and the vigor of your cuttings.
To offer you the widest window with the greatest confidence, I'd say between 2 weeks and 4 months.

This is a great time of year to start cuttings, as long as you have semi-decent light to offer them.
I stuck some Jade cuttings in a pot yesterday, and I'll be disappointed if they haven't rooted in a month.

Thanks for the replies. This is opposite the experience I've had with my standard Jade plant. Often leaves will drop down onto the bench and if I don't clean them up, a month or so later I'll see a small rosette of leaves attached to the original - with no roots. I was just a little confused this time with cuttings, and seeing significant root growth before seeing any top growth.

i have noticed that my cuttings that don't have a medium for the roots to hide in, those roots quickly dry up and all you are left with is the plant that now has no roots and will quickly suck the leaf cutting dry. when the roots have a place to go they seem to grow a while and return that original leaf to good health and then start a new plant.
