Stephania rotunda, my giant potato

I picked this guy up a while back at California Cactus Center. Naturally, I chose the largest they had, but in retrospect, I really should have gotten the smaller, beat up plant. All I can ever think about when I look at mine is potato! Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to take a scoop out of it and give it some character!

It is 5" in diameter and 6" tall from the soil line.

The vine grows fast and furious! The pot is on the first shelf, behind the P. afra. Both vines go up and out onto the the branch I zip-tied to the rack.

Attractive, nasturtium-like leaves. The biggest ones are about 3" long.

Each vine branches a couple of a times, and puts out lots of leaves, which quickly block out light on the lower shelves. Next season I am going to try and find something else for it to climb, maybe something I build for staging...
