Congrats on the new baby:) No dont snip off the leaf, that leaf is what is feeding the babies right now till they grow big enough to feed themselves through the soil. The leaf will eventually die off as the babies get bigger, I would just let it die off naturally.

How delightfully coincidental you posted yours first - aren't they fun! I was about to myself with a few leaves flung into a bonsai pot. I'll show mine tomorrow.

Yours has many more pups on its leaf node than mine - I see five of six plants there. Well, I suppose having just one on leaves up here counts as success...

And I was going to title my post 'Baby Fangs' which made me think of the Frank Zappa song/movie 'Baby Snakes' which made me sing it. Man, this tangential thinking is getting me somewhere...

The babies continue to grow stronger and I've even got some additional recruits waiting to join the ranks (2nd pic). I noticed a few of the stalks on my Kalanchoe were really top heavy so I decided to pull one off and replant the clippings. To my surprise I'm already getting new growth on the stalk (3rd pic) and the clipped and repotted flowers have continued to grow new leaves 4th pic.

BTW I've noticed that after about a week with no water all of the larger flowers start to sag during warm weather (90+)...at one point they completely turned horizontal (which is why I clipped one off). Turns out with a little love and water the flowers brought themselves upright. So I guess I didnt need to clip the flowers after all...but I learned a few things and propagated flowers to share.

It's awesome in a small way when those first leaves pop off of the hitherto-bare stem, isn't it?

I don't see any flowers that you speak of in your post (in fact, I don't think I've ever seen 'Fang' bloom, but that's not important). Do you mean cuttings / branch ends? I would imagine this cultivar has purple or purple-striped white flowers (four-petaled); the photo below is the Kalanchoe beharensis with the naked / non-fuzzy lead in flower. I wonder what Kalanchoe honey tastes like?

I can't imagine disagreeing with you more in your second statement. This isn't the place for you to write what you want whenever you want to.

So, do I get this right...when a leaf sprouts little leaves at the base, it is not just one new plant, but many new plants?

It can be so, yes. Kalanchoes are particularly fecund, at least with some species, with the whole leaf-sprouting-new-plants process.

nomara. you dont necessarily need to wait for em to fall off. I've pulled a few off from the bottom when the plant/flower or whatever you wanna call it gets top heavy.

i was at a plant swap and a lady brought in a "Fang". She didn't know what it was. I knew what it was although not by name. I had seen the plant before. It's mine now. hehe.
