Hi Gardengirlz2, Most of the Kalanchoe I have will root and send up new plantlets from the leaf as long as they're kept in/on moist soil.
What is a 'Pink Kalanchoe'? Can you post a pic? Is that just the color of the flower? If so it's probably K. blossfeldiana. If so, it should send up some babies from the leaf, but if you take a small branch from your moms plant, it will root easily! No root tone needed. Just stick it in some moist soil and keep it moist.

the care tag says pink kalanchoe...I did a google search and found out exactly what you said, so I stuck it in some good dirt and I also make a mini greenhouse around it with sticks and a plastic bag, gave it some moist soil and I'll see what happens. how long will it take to root and how will i know if I was successful? The color of the flower is pink and looks like the link you provided. thanks for the info.

Hmmm... Honestly, I never really kept track of the time... A week or two? If it's successful you'll see a new plant growing from somewhere along the leaf.

If you let it rest for the winter it should come into flower about Jan. Feb. I have cut off the flowers on mine already. It will be set in the shade to sleep. I give it morning sun in the spring to flower. If you trim it this may produce some more flowers before going dormant. That is what my nursery does to force new flowers so they can sell more plants.
