conifers for south florida

Hi,

Apart from the obvious candidates (slash pine, dade county pine, Elliott pine) which do not particularly appeal to me, can anyone suggest other conifers which might do well here in South Florida. A few species which I'd like to try (if there is any meaningful chance of success) are taiwania cryptomerioides, cryptomeria japonicum (I've seen one specimen in zone 9 at Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando, FL), Kashmir cypress, podocarpus elongatus Icee Blue, Blue China Fir, and Araucaria araucana (Monkey Puzzle Tree). Additionally, it would be nice to be able to grow dawn redwood (metasequioa glyptostroboides), but I don't think it would do well in this zone 10 environment of South Florida. The soils here are said to be on the alkaline side, though I've not yet tested my own. Thank you.
