Sorry Karyn, I know how you feel with the plants. When I cleaned out the garage this weekend it was only because I knew I had to do it before John finished working on the boat or it would never get done. I sure wasn't planning on bringing everything in yet. Good thing you don't park in there. Every winter we get a bunch of cars and trucks towed in that mice or squirrels have chewed the wiring harness up on the engines if they sit for very long at a time. Very expensive to fix that. Glad hubby did it for you too. I would have done the same thing. Don't do mice, snakes, etc.

Sorry that happened but it is kind of funny too. I thought you had mice a pets? You would be the last person that I would think would be afraid of mice.

I would of left the boxes too...esp with them jumping out...UGH! I hope you didnt have anything important in those boxes...so glad hubby finished putting the plants in for ya !

Shawn I have a pet rat, not a mouse but I have had mice in the past. They are fine as pets but not jumping out of storage boxes! Those nasty disease carrying vermin! I have cats but they are completely useless as mousers. We occasionally have a mouse find it's way inside (that doesn't bother me too much) and the cats usually just look at them. I even saw my lazy cats sharing their food with a mouse. It was sitting on the edge of their food bowl while they were eating!

lmao Karyn..I'm sorry, but thats funny. you need to set some traps! O crap, that reminds me I have to let the poor little baby oppossum out of the live trap b4 it gets light out.. Trying to I don't know what DH expects to catch in that lil trap he set..I hope not the raccoon, he wouldnt even fit in that lil thing! I keep forgetting to set the big trap for him. Maybe I won't even attempt to catch him anymore.
Anywho..at least DH did it all for you after you got freaked and left!

I have traps set. I've caught one mouse IN the garage (unfortunately I found its abandoned nest with 4 dead teeny ones), and I have trapped at least 8 OUTSIDE the house. I keep the traps 'loaded' with a dollup of peanut butter and a raw peanut half (bird food) stuck in it. It gets them one at a time! But yesterday all my traps had been eaten clean and all were tripped. No mice. What up with that? Maybe squirrels? Chipmunks? I think the birdfeeder has attracted them. So I've asked my wife to only feed thistle seed now. She did it grudgingly. I tell her everytime I trap a mouse so she realizes how quickly they can accumulate when there's food around!

I couldn't use a snap trap or sticky tape. I bought something called a rat zapper and it electrocutes them. The trap has a light that flashes when something is in it so you don't have to see anything but it will only get 1 mouse at a time and they're too expensive to have a bunch of them. I've used the live traps but I'm sure they just find their way back here. lol

I couldn't use a live trap. Wouldn't want to deal with their little beady eyes asking for mercy! I just take the dead little bodies to the back yard and dig a hole. More fertilizer for the brugs.

Karyn, I have also set out the green mouse bait. However, it's now all gone too! Squirrels? Chipmunks? Will have to set out some more.

Karyn, I too would have freaked out if "anything" suddenly jumped out of a box! The rat zapper sounds great. I haven't seen mice around here, but I know rats visit my garage. Good thing it's separate from the house. I poison them with stuff the county gave me once when they were going around the neighborhood.

mice are pretty smart lil things, and catch on to the traps. I have seen them eat all around without setting it off.
Dave, when I use a live, have a heart trap its for the bigger critters...I could never kill them..I couldnt even kill a mouse. I just relocate into the woods. I only relocate the trouble makers, lol. If there's a critter here and he's causing no probs, I'll leave him be. I love critters. But, when one..like the raccoon starts destroying things, like my pond! He's gotta go. I hear him sometimes at night splashing around. I have so many rocks from around the sides missing, its ridiculous..plants knocked around..at least he hasn't gotten any fish yet. He did when they were in the smaller preformed ponds.

Karyn, that's kinda gross...do you smell burning fur when they are getting zapped? ew.
We don't have any mice since I let my cat start going outside. He's a hunter. Thats another reason I want the coon gone. I'm scared him and the cat are going to fight.

It's not a very strong shock. I guess just enough to cause cardic arrest, no burning fur or flesh. I have a hard time killing anything but when the mice started making their way inside and my cats didn't do anything I had to. I did try the live traps at first but I swear those little * just kept coming back and reproducing. I really grossed out when we had the kitchen renovated. When they tore out the old cabinets you could see droppings in the space underneath the lower ones and even inside the exterior wall when they tore that down. It was seriously gross!

Too bad there aren't any mice around here, then I wouldn't have to buy them to feed dd's snake :) We were gonna try to raise mice but they stink too much and dd didn't want them in her room anymore lol, so now we have to buy snakey food.
