Oh the wonders of those great looking 'Sports' that can not stand alone. Aren't they so great!! We have had many and several with green stalks that also will not survive alone, they tend to collapse. Keep her in the shade and watch her take off. Congrats on a special looking 'Sport'. Did you know you can even find these on Daturas?

I ended up digging it up a couple of days after I posted this and put it in a large pot. Here's a pic of the stalk which is making it look mostly white but it's actually about 1/2 green and 1/2 white:

Now I'm debating on whether to bring it in the house for the winter or put it in the greenhouse. I keep the temps in the gh pretty much just above freezing for my cactus and succulent collection so not sure it'd be warm enough out there...Will probably just find a spot in the house and drag it on in.

Make sure you have plenty of light for this one inside.

That's a beautiful plant. I've had pure white seedlings but unfortunately they can't survive because of the lack of chlorophyll. As long as you have some green it should continue to grow well.

Keep us posted on how it's growing. Looks as if it has plenty of green color. The leaves are beautiful.

Ok ya'll here's an update...I drug this one into the house and got tired of it being in here so it went into the garage shortly before Christmas. It had some of the normal leaf drop when I moved it both times. It seems healthy and happy in the garage, getting plenty of light from a grow light, but the new growth is all variegated and there's no solid white left at all. Bummer because it was so neat looking! Oh well..I'd still like to know what caused it to begin with, and wonder if it may just put out some white leaves again later...

It appears it reverted back?? How is the stalk on this one? Those that I have had albinos on haven't reverted back so this is very interesting. Do keep us posted on this one and watch for sports on it.

KHT, The stalk looks the same now as in pic #2. Hopefully when I take it back outside in the spring I'll get some of the white leaves again...

Well, thought I'd jump on here for a minute and give another update on this one. I got my wish for more white leaves but they're all on the bottom half. Such a strange little bruggie...

I hope that those of you with blooms will please post some pictures! Most of mine are inground (they stay there for winter) and starting to get pretty big now but I havn't seen any buds yet.

Lots of caterpillar damage here, but I did BT it a little while ago. They really seem to tear up the variegated's for some reason...

Did your albino bloom?
Were they the same as the P&C mothership?
I've carried my P&C through 3 winters via cuttings.
Last year, I too noticed an albino wich I eventually cut off and attempted to root like I do my other cuttings.
It looked promising for awhile but finally went away.
THIS fall I noticed another one that had come up from the roots of one of my P&C's in ground. This time though, I cut cut back all stalks but two variegated and the albino.
Then I dug up and potted the whole plant and brought into the office. It's looking very promising. The albino hasn't missed a step with new foliage starting to emerge.
I need to get pics soon before anything changes for the better or worse.

Has anyone taken an albino off and grafted it to a green stem that has a few branches/leaves? I know they do that with cactus with the albino on top of the green cactus so it can still get chlorophyll. Be cool to have two diff colors of flowers and two diff colors leaves on one plant.

I wish brug leaves were variegated in reds or purples like other plants- like bananas etc.

Ateftbed, yes it did bloom and the blooms were not the same as P&C, but were albino. They were the same color as the leaves which are really more of a cream color and not white.

Right after it bloomed I cut the top half of the albino stalk off and rooted it. It rooted quickly but was slow to start putting out new leaves. I had some nice baby leaves on it and the cold weather came in so brought it inside and stuck it under a grow light. Apparantly that was a major shock to it because it isn't doing well. But it is still alive and the pot is full of roots. I'm leaving it alone and have decided that if the top doesn't make it, it may come back from the roots in the spring when it goes back outside.

Questions for you....did your albino shoot that you cut root normally also? What ended up happening to it? Mine is shrivelling and hollowing out...That only started happening about a week ago. I am so sad about it because it was looking real promising also! I do still have the other half of the albino stalk attached to the mother plant and I'll probably try rooting some of that in the spring. Please post pics of yours!!!
