Anyone else grow Gloster Butterfly Bush?

It's cool out..84% humidity but cool so I've been weeding and pruning.

My Gloster Butterfly I like because of its pendulous branching and long blooms. Unfortunately, they're not scented.

Anyhoo, I tried growing it one year at the other house and got great blooms but the yard folks who spread the pine needles pruned it to the ground in fall.

Gloster doesn't like that.

So this Gloster I've let grow as it will for three seasons and now have pruned it up from the bottom.

It's probably going to put on a flush of mid branch growths I'll have to prune out again but I needed its location more airy.

It was weeping clear to the ground and taking up all my edge of the border planting area.

So, here's hoping that it will tolerate this selective pruning at this time of year.

I'm sure you're all busy today and this weekend dealing with the late sprouting weeds due to the rain.

Get out your Ben Gay and Aspercreme.
