the green pods are edible when cooked as vegetable like stir-fry. But you will have to scrape off the soft parts and eat them, leaving behind the inedible lignin that protects the pods. You can also chew the cooked pods and spit out the toughest fibers.
Hi Chaman, I am growing mooring as well, and I'm wondering how long it took yours to produce pods? Also, which variety is it? I'm hoping the regular Olifera (I think it's spelled) variety will produce pods growing in a 5-gallon bucket with drainage holes.
It grows just fine in Riverside County, Southern California. Pods everywhere! Fruited from year one. They need a lot of pruning to keep them from going to monster size. We might get freezes this year, and they might die back some, but they will return with vigor when it gets hot. And it will.
The variety loves heat and not a lot of water. It thrives in dry (not foggy) environments.
When did you start growing your Moringa Oleifera? Here is video showing the seed pods produced by one tree that I planted last March (2015). The video was taken in December (2015). Also check out my website on Moringa. The link above will take you to a blog post giving you 2 tips for maximizing your success for getting seed pods in the first year of planting.
