Sorry for the delay in my response. I had no idea anyone would express sympathy for my dog dying. Thanks for that. Derek kindly emaled me directly with an offer to send me Pink Muhly in a month or so when his Utah soil eases up a bit. To answer Polly -- I've brought home between 400-500 grasses so far and there are more grasses and MANY perennials to follow. The story goes like this: I bought grasses from a very kind woman on the other side of the city about 9 months ago and when I was visiting her home nursery (not a retail site) I mentioned to her that if she ever was thinking of getting out of the business and wanted a loving home for her many fine plants, she should look me up. She did. She knew I was a grass freak and knew that I had a ton of energy and passion for these and other plants. So here I am today with a serious collection and working on a business plan to bring these wonderful plants into the lives of others. Thanks again for your sympathy.

My wish list of plants I plan to get this year: australis ssp. Tenuipes cagayanensis calycina villosa Maybes: benguetensis chlorantha CFM-8 lambii lobbii patella Wishing and wanting but ain't happening anytime soon: Eriostemmas microphylla tjadasmalangensis I've definitely forgotten some, not feeling organized enough at the moment to suss them out. How my wish list pans out will be determined greatly by the amount of space I decide I have. I'm going to be rearranging furniture and planning on downsizing my plant collection very soon so I can grow things that I really enjoy, vs the ones that are just ok.

Hi Renee, I live a couple of miles outside a smallish town in the north of England. I believe allotments originally started because a lot of the North of England was very industrialised with coal mining and wool mills being the main source of employment. The houses built to accommodate workers were small with little or no gardens. Social reformers at the time realized that workers would be happier and healthier if they had access to the outdoors and fresh food. As the wages were traditionally very low and the workers poor they were suffering from malnourishment and diseases associated with that. So land was bought and set aside for this use. It was divided into plots and each plot was alloted to a named worker, hence the name "allotments". There are a number of allotment societies in Britain and the Green Party is trying to lobby the government to create more, especially as our immigration level means that new homes being built have, once again, little or no garden space. History repeating itself, I guess! best wishes, Nikki

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to growing Brugs but have adored them for as long as I can remember. I'm also addicted to Hostas!
This is a great thread and I've gone to look up many of the ones listed and ALL of them are beautiful.
Since I don't have a Brug to trade I'm offering to trade a jar of the BEST homemade grape jelly you've ever tasted. I make about 200 jars per year and have for 18 years and sell it locally to many of the fruit stands and also at the Farmers Market. If anyone would be willing to send me several cuttings of nicely scented Brugs I'd love to send you some of my jelly. (I have a weakness for things that smell good! LOL)
Don't tell my hubbie that I have a new addiction!

i wish , i wish , its more like i want and must have, lol lol would love to collect a few amorphophallus konjac (shattered glass) and the solid black trunk one called night stick (i think that's the name ).
i would also like a clump of variegated daylilies called zebra. i have variegated kwanso and secured borders, always looking for other ones .

i also collect miniature hosta . i breed with my hosta so named cultivars only, please .

i love epiphyllums. these are some fun plants to grow, with huge flowers . i have a small collection but would love to get more . a guy on ebay sold a collection of cuttings for $199.99 bucks hint hint ,lol lol .

sempervivums [hens and ckicks)and cold hardy cacti are always welcome . i would love to trade for around 1000 pups.

crested aeoniums are another favorite . i have a few but keeping my eyes open for new ones.

datura. my plants did not produce many seeds this year due to drought . i would love 1000 or so seeds of the double purple and the triple purple .

variegated cacti, would be interested in almost any type except for the small upright
    Optimum.

    variegated musa Ae Ae

i will have to hold off receiving any new brugmansia in trades , sorry . i can send but can not recieve them . i'm not pointing fingers at anyone , but all the viruses and diseases in the states are scaring me . i do not want to introduce anything to my collection, including spider mites . it seems like every time i get a plant out of the south i get them . thank god for forbid . folks, when trading , ebaying, or websites ,i suggest you keep your new finds away from your other brugs for awhile .

i can trade for brugs , but they would have to be shipped to florida to jeri. she has a quarentine area.

this is a busy time of year for me , getting greenhouse together , propagating plants for my local spring market , i also work every weekend at our local market , so time is scarse. i will reply to all emails , but it may take a few days . please be patent with me !!!

How does cuttings for postage and handling work?

    Denise

  • sibhskylvr

    last modified: 9 years ago

    Denise

When someone begins to cut their brugs - they offer the cuttings to others for the postage amount. I'm guilty too & love doing it! lol! I'll be doing it soon enough too! It's usually from $4.00 - $6.00 to ship one of the smaller boxes. I can get quite a few 6" cuttings in them! If it's a HUGE box - even then you can get a USPS priority 'flat rate' box for $9.80 & a larger one for around $11.00 - I think. Flat rate boxes can go anywhere in the US for one amount. There are many who do this considering the change in the USPS postal services. They consider the zone a person is in & the weight of the box. Hope the info is helpful to you! :)

I'm so glad others have made some good trades also. It keeps my mind off of the poor, poor bruggies sitting in the basement, although Frosty Pink did manage to squeeze out another bloom down there in the dark. LOL.

Thats a great idea Kylie, and thanks for the bump. I'm still making my way thru this thread (I know, I know - I'm slow) offering up what I have left, so don't give up hope on getting some of those wishes or maybe an unexpected surprise from someone.

But gosh, theres no way to top those SSanta boxes. Un-be-lievable! I have had the most fun reading those threads and actually got some great ideas for Christmas gifts.

And those of you just beginning to cut back your bruggies, if you have something to share, make someone's day by trying to fullfil a wish or two. Its sort of like the "Give a Kid a Coat" campaign, except it's more like "Give a Pal a Cutting" or "Give an Addict a Fix" LOL.

So everybody update your wish list or post again and Kylie I've noticed, you haven't posted any of your wishes.
