May I ask a personal ? please? Why do you like citrus pla
Comments (49)Meyermike, Why grow citrus? Many years ago my then girlfriend had unlimited access to citrus at Christmas. I ate lots of it and put several seeds in a potted plant. I think every seed sprouted. I was hooked. I gave them all away. Later I raised orange trees on purpose (for the challenge). They were left out and froze. Several years ago I received an orange tree as a gift. It has produced some fruit for three years. 1. For the challenge. 2. For the envy of those who are either unable or unwilling to grow them. 3. The one that I have produces the best tasting orange that I have ever eaten (in memory). 4. I have four grown children that covet my oranges. 5. I would like to have enough to share them with my 12 grandchildren also. 6. The aroma is so intense that we cannot keep it inside the house. We keep it in the attached garage in the winter. 7. There are too many reasons to list them all....See MoreOK, trying again, do you like either of these floor lamps?
Comments (21)I like the tortoise shell one the best with the shade that comes with it. I like the lines of the shade. Red does give it that added punch and can always be added later--but for now I'm still focusing on the basics. I also like the table lamp with that collection: It's different and yet the same. There was a much cheaper one on sale at JC Penny's for $79 (a Tuscan style bronze with a crackle glaze ceramic in a gold/cream); but they were out of stock, though I have one on hold at another store. I looked online but could not find it. I looked at some of the porcelain ones at Lamps Plus, but they are pretty pricy. I liked this one but not the price: http://www.lampsplus.com/Products/Table-Lamps/Style_Traditional/Type_Ceramic!Porcelain/94066/ (BTW, how to I embed the link in my text?) Since I do have the recessed lights (on dimmers), I'm thinking of putting just one table lamp near the sofa and one floor lamp where you placed it. Where you have the table put near the entry is almost floating in the entry and will be a bit difficult routing the wiring etc. so that cords are not visable--esp. if I go with a smaller 8x10 rug which I am considering for financial reasons. I'm thinking maybe a set of tall candle sticks (like I had put recently on top of the piano) may look good on that other table. As for the artwork, I like fewer larger pictures. I feel that was my problem in the past my artwork was not large enough. I would like one mantle painting and one painting over the piano (which can even be larger as there is more wall space above the piano than the mantle. Then some grouping of smaller pictures on the other walls. I like the set of four pics you put together to the left of the fireplace and over the ottoman. One other thing with the room is that I plan to put my Christmas tree there as well in which case I would probably put it in the corner with the palm, move the palm out and rearrange the chairs for the season....See MoreOK...OK...The C2 'Stellar' pics...!
Comments (9)Hey Faron, How are ya, D-boy?! Great color, really freshens the furnishings, gives it a whole new appearance! A very earthy looking blue to me, not cold, quite soothing! As far as the front entry wall, will you be doing anything with the picture window wall (near seating) and window wall opposite that one? (The wall upstairs to the right of the arched window). Will they stay the color they are now? BTW, I have a split level/bilevel too, I'm loving that arched window over the entry. Couldn't pull a nice sized beauty like that off in my house, knucklehead who built it left about an inch of drywall on either side of the front door frame, it's about as tight as an entry can be. :/...See MoreDon't post pics? Why or Why not? (Long, rambling, sorry!)
Comments (66)I am probably not going to be posting many pics when asking questions any more because I find that too many people are only looking at the pictures, NOT reading the text, and thus their responses are either directly contrary to something I've said in the text (for instance "get rid of XYZ" or "the color of ABC is wrong" when I've already said in the accompanying that I love XYZ so it's not going anywhere or that the color of ABC is really more toward mauve when it shows up as puce in the picture) or have nothing at all to do with what I'm asking. I find that intensely frustrating. I have almost no pictures of my current house because it's still in "whatta dump" stage. No paint (walls need a TON of work), short on furniture, dreadfully designed kitchen that's a perpetual mess because there's nowhere to put things... and forget outside pictures, a few weeks ago we ripped out almost every trace of vegetation outside (and will not be replacing it until next year, probably fall '09 to get the end-of-season sales) due to a honeysuckle invasion that I swear was growing by feet per day and was starting to attack the porch. I'll happily post pictures of my previous house because I think I did a pretty decent job with it. We're not on Google Maps but we're kinda-sorta on Google Earth - but the best you can get is a fuzzy whitish blob in the midst of a bunch of other fuzzy whitish blobs on a fuzzy grayish stripe. No closeups. Our town is clearly not a high priority as far as Google is concerned! WRT security - we live in a somewhat iffy neighborhood so I am one HECK of a lot more worried about the people a dozen houses down the street breaking in looking for meth money than I am about someone trying to track me down via the Internet (I Googlebate every so often just to see what's out there re: me) from half a dozen states away. I've been email-stalked and -harassed a bunch of times in my 18 years online because of my outspoken ;-) opinions and my ISPs have always been helpful in dealing with it. However, I've had meet-ups with a whole slew of people I've met online over the years, twice flying nearly cross-country to do so, and it's been grand fun....See Morehoosierquilt USDA 10A Sunset 23 Vista CA
