No problem here in Va., as a matter of fact, it went down to $3.65 this week.

Went to $ 3.24 here but we have refineries right down the road. My opinion is the economy and the bail out has all the speculators who are controlling the market a little scared. Public sentiment is to catch some white collar criminals.

I say catch them all. They had no problem bankrupting the people.

No problem here. Sounds like the 70s gas crisis where you live. You could only get gas every other day, long lines, running out before you got there, & we thought the prices were outrageous then. Anybody remember that?

My sister in Georgia having the same problem. I did hear on the news today that a pipeline was damaged in the hurricane and they had trucks backed up waiting at the one refinery that was open to get filled to deliver to places that have run out but because people are worried they are filling up more often and causing the supply to run low. They said they have it repaired now so maybe it will get better.

Its pretty sporatic around here. I stopped this morning at the shell on the corner and all was out except for the most expensive kind. I went across the street to the convenience store and they had gas. I work in another town and have seen bags over the handles at some of the stations there. There was a ratio station yesterday having callers call in from different areas to report who had gas and who did not, and they were also helping callers who were almost out of gas and didnt know which way to get to the nearest station with gas. They were giving out directions and locations to those callers. I thought it as very nice of the radio station, but a very weird situation. We had no problems before or during Ike either. Prices are aroud 3.88/gallon.

We're in Mooresville, Nc, zone 7b- was able to get gas at a few stations yesterday- But today, the gas stations are out- I'm on 1/4 tank & have to get to Cornelius tomorrow for work- hope there is some there- I've heard that North & South Carolina are out of gas because we buy it from Texas... Yesterday- one gas station manager was on the phone when I was buying some cigs. I heard him say- "We're out of gas"- then he said- "None is coming?" He hung up & said "we might get some this weekend"... it's still listed at $3.99 to $4.08 a gal... My hubby says we should all stay home for a week & not go ANY where.. ( Can't happen)

Yeah, the oil companies got us by the short hairs! The stations are suffering, too. People are not stopping for anything, if there is no gas.

The stations are out of gas along the main Hwys and in the town where our business is, but hubby went to night court about 20 miles off the beaten track and filled the tank! Guess we need to look in those out of way places.

Our gas was $3.49 before Ike, jumped to $3.99 a few days before Ike hit, and has not dropped much. Yep, folks are panicking. Some folks can't get to work; no gas, and some schools are closing because of lack of bus fuel and teachers not being able to get to school. Crazy!

I feel so bad for you. The thought of not being able to get more gas is scarry. We have come to depend on it so much the thought of not having any available is a nightmare.

It is scary to be that dependent on fuel. My car has been in the shop for 2 weeks and I can't stand being without a car. I have saved some money not buying gas for 2 weeks. But I have noticed that some stations will have some pumps closed. One station had their pumps blocked so I assume that was because they were out of gas.

Linda, I so remember the gas crisis of the 70's. I thought it was terrible that gas went over 25 cents a gallon. I was only 2 at the time LOL Not really, I was actually in my teens and it cut into "dragging main street". We started to park along the road in parking lots. However, the police didn't take too kindly to that and told us to move. We would move to another parking lot until we were told to move again. Gas was just too expensive. LOL Can you imagine gas for 25 cents now? Bring out the Hummers LMAO

But I do agree with everyone, it is scary to think about not having a supply of fuel whenever we need it. I would hate to think about dusting off my old 10-speed to get around. Lord watch out....Granny on a bike.

Hope those of you having to wait for gas won't have to deal with it much longer and things get back to normal for you.

Sorry to hear about everyone's gas problems. I do believe it is a manufactured problem. I could be wrong. I will ask some of my refinery friends. I do know they were all going on offshore fishing trips, company parties, golf tournaments etc. because America was consuming less so they were not as busy.

Yeah I remember the gas shortage of the 70's I had just ordered a new Good times Van. I almost stopped the order and bought a Honda Civic. I would have missed all those good times. LOL

OMG I remember the odd even days during the gas crisis in the 70's. I was just a kid but I remember waiting in the gas lines with my parents waiting to buy gas. Back then gas and cigarettes were both about 30 cents. I'm so surprised to hear that there'a a shortage in the Southeast. I hope things get back to normal for you all soon.

The 70's shortage..... I was around but clueless. Found out about it many years later!!! And yes, I'm old enough to remember! :-)

Georgia has standards/ratings for the gasoline sold here, regulated by the EPA. Well, our Gov Perdue persuaded the EPA (that boy must really be able to talk! LOL) to drop the regulations and we are supposed to be bringing in a lower grade gasoline (with sulfur in it, not too clear on that!) to help us out. I think 2/3 of the problem is the panicking!

(BTW, this is the same governor who had Georgia's publlic schools close a few years ago when gas when up so high after Katrina, in protest, because the state budget was being strained by needs of the school buses- coupla day holiday on the governor- kids loved it, of course!)

No lines here. Regular gas is about $3.54 in some places.

Brenda,we are having some problems here to,some of the stations are out of gas and some get a little then they are out again,they have closed some schools and government offices so far until Monday.The price is $3.79 and $3.89 a gal.I talked to my son Matt who lives in Gainsville last night he was telling me that he had a hard time finding gas for the work van,I am afraid that will hurt their company,if they can't get gas to get to their jobs then there will be no job.Man oh Man what a mess.

Gas is okay here-about the same as before Ike. I don't know why they don't put all those school buses on biodesiel, Most school buses run on desiel so can easily run on biodesiel. The Deer Valley School District in Az did it with success. Of course there has to be places set up to get that biofuel access too but in the long run it can really save money for schools who really have poor budgets anyway.

Yep Brenda-It's Rough here where we live!I Bet it is like a circus looking out your front door!I drove past that kangaroo yesterday,and cars were lined up all around the store.I had to wait 30 minutes yesterday to get gas.On the way home tonight,I passed a dozen gas stations-and only one had gas-cars were lined out into the road.It's been this way for at least a week.The gas station close to the house was out today-and they said it will be Next week till they get more gas.Over the last week it's gotten worse.And this is when I thought I had high gas prices beat-My 58 MPG Harley still has to have gas!!!
