Leslie, I don't agree with what the nursery told you. I have similar leaves this spring on my pears and they all formed well after frost danger had passed during a period when my apples had a lot of fireblight. In seeing many such leaves over the years I have rarely seen the firelight progress on them, there was not enough of an infection for the disease to propagate. One thing they could be correct about is there is some chance it is frost damage. Scott

From your brief description, it sounds like you have a keiki growing on the dying spike. The keiki will die unless you get some roots on it. Read the link below and see if you can gets roots on your keiki - it will be a long, slow process but if you want to keep the plant, I think this is your only hope. @Microthrix - Beachplants lives in a Lithops' natural environment. You will learn to appreciate his insight. The reality is that they usually receive no rainfall during much of the year but get daily moisture from mist and dew. It's not necessary to match the endemic lifestyle of a Lithops. They like a little mist all the time, grow very well that way. Sadly, many people are misinformed about this and starve their plants, thinking they're following the 'rules'. This leads to a shrinking plant with inactive roots that is difficult to revive. I mist my Lithops almost every day, holding back a little on the ones that are splitting, giving a little extra to the ones that have fully absorbed their leaves. I like my plants plump so I keep them well fed but they can be kept small and dry as well if that's what you like. Still, that just means LESS misting, not none. Somewhere around the hottest day of summer a brave person can give them a real soak if they're feeling lucky, though it makes me nervous to even consider. Noki, I have coaxed a few dry, shrinking Lithops back into health and it's slow going, maybe 2 months before you see results. The good news is, we're right in their growing season so now's the time. Your South facing window should be fine.

Also if its grown a lot since its last repot it may need to be repotted.
