Problem with fabric on new sofa order!
Comments (19)Better Pictures below: budge1, I did find a nice velvet, but with a 6 year old, and lots of family members w/small children... I think I would end up hating it. Anyone hate footprints on carpet!? I d, and some fabrics remind me of that and it would drive me nuts. annie1971, thanks. I really am not concerned at all about the pillows - just the big expensive sofa! The chairs and sofa are actually from 2 different companies. This picture is more accurate in colors/texture . The sofa picture is a soft chenille. brutuses, thank you. The chair fabric is from Huntington House... and I love it too and feel comfortable with this, but with the difficulty I am having finding a sofa fabric... I am doubting my selection! Les, as always - thank you for your help! I have included (pic below)a great strip fabric that I found that I was thinking of adding for pillows. What do you think? Squirrel, what will I ever do without you!? You have such a great memory of my on going project! First, the fireplace width is only 66" (should have been 76-78")I need to play around with this area more, but as I see it now - it will look odd because it will end up tall and narrow. (does that make sense?) but the pre-fab ones will not work at this point, because all the legs are too short. As far as lighting - I have only purchased the bathrooms so far - so that is open to change, but I definitely want a warm, light bronze color or a silver bronze color. I am in Florida now, and I have seen both warmer tones as well as darker - and like both. Living with one or the other.. hard to say! Previous homes, I have had brown/beige and it was okay, favorite sofa I had was a solid chenille green, light the green in the chair fabric. I did love that room - it felt cozy. In the 80's I had my first new sofa - MAUVE - oh yuck, I hated it after just a few months! I don't "have" to purchase the furniture now, but since I already invested so much time, and I do need furniture to sit on (if I don't buy - room will be totally empty as the old is already gone). It takes 12 weeks ++ I really want to finish this! Oh.. and paint, I do just have a light neutral right now, but think I would change the paint to SW blond or restrained gold if I go with the new sofa color. gk5040 Thanks for your help too! This is another option... I like the color and color-wise is is almost the same as my first fabric. It is also a soft fabric, but look very close at the picture and you will see that it does have a light pattern to it (which is why I have initially voided it) Pattern has slanted lines /\ /\...See MoreBig problems acclimating new pup and disabled kitty
Comments (15)My oldest cats first meeting of a dog ever went as so "Big old pitbull boxer walks in, snaps his leash off and chases kitty" This goes on everytime kitty braves the danger. He never hurt her, I don't know if that was because he couldn't catch her, or he just wanted to chase. And then we got a beagle, who loves to chase the cats. God old hunting drive. She still chases the cats. But she does not hurt or attack them, when she catches up to them she submits, onto her back. And if she ever gets too rough the cats chase her off. Big guy doesn't even notice the cats, they walk right up to him and sniff him and he doesn't even bat an eye. Except for when the crazy, furry black thing rolls around on him meowing and purring. That confuses him slightly. We achieved this with both animals by saying "No, leave the kitty" Of course after training "Leave it" and if they didn't, they were removed from the room, either to their crate in the beagles case, or the garage in the big guys case. They quickly learned if they didn't "Leave the kitty" They weren't allowed to be in the same room, and from that they effectively learned to leave the cats alone all together. I'm pretty sure the beagle would leave the cats alone, if they didn't like her so much. Especially our little black one, she loves both the dogs, and she LOVES playing with the beagle. And the calico pretends to hate her, but if she doesn't play with her for a day or two, she harasses her. She pretends to hate everyone and everything though, til it ignores her. However, we do still have gates in place where our banisters are, so that if ever the cats feel threatened (or annoyed, mostly) they can escape without fearing the dogs chasing them. Just because they're reliable, doesn't mean they will always be 100% reliable, and I think reconizing that is almost more important than the actual training. You hear too many stories of "Oh my fox killing dog would never hurt a fly, I dont know what happened!!" instinct!...See MoreDecorating around an 80's floral couch
Comments (21)oh wow. that's some nice upholstery! I'd go for visually light, leggy furniture..so that the room wouldn't be too bottom heavy. If you love rattan-there are beautiful pieces of furniture made of it, from small end tables to etageres. I can see some industrial element as well-to juxtapose with the very comfy, patterned chairs. Plants, of course. Bohemian doesn't necessarily gravitate toward bright colors..there are no rules when it comes to bohemian, i guess that's partly what makes this style..No strict rules, and an attitude of a traveler I found some pictures-they use neutrals mostly, yet the rooms are bohemian I think your chairs are wonderful. I wouldn't even think of reupholstering them, unless the fabric is torn or ruined or something. Can you attach a pic of your room? But if not-can you move everything out of the room, or, say, put it all in a corner, and look only at the chairs? Or even-sit on the floor, look at the chairs?:) some brilliant ideas come when we change things, or at list our visual relationship to them I'd make these chairs stars of the show. You have a great opportunity to create a unique room, with these....See MoreRed floral couch - rug suggestions?
Comments (27)Hi Bunty, we are all just guessing here as we have no real clues on what direction you want to go in decorating with your floral sofa. Anyway, hopefully you will get some ideas of possibilities. I really like the simple green marble top coffee table but would put a cool light colored vintage look tray on top so the green marble just peeks through. P.S It's difficult to see the "real" red-ish rose or Red color on the sofa due to shaddows so the reds in accessories or art in my mock-up could be changed to something more suitable....See MoreRelated Professionals
