I would leave it to nature and a good hosing down for the aphids. I use Neem Oil for my plants, but they're all indoors for the winter. During the summer I don't spray at all, and nature does a good job.
As far as the leaf miners... (anyone?)

I use horticultural oil on all of my trees. I'd be in a world of hurt without it. I've never noticed it to harm any beneficial insects. You could always give the trees a shake to dislodge any lady bugs and so on, but I've never found it necessary.

Oil is of only limited use in deterring leaf miners in my experience.

Something you need to know. When your trees are young, you must protect them from loosing their leaves.

Neem oil is good, but it should be applied regularly and you will still have leafminers. Sticky traps work and you'll still have the miners, etc. You know about the Greening and Canker diseases common in Florida?

If I had to do it all over again I would do one of two things. I would cover my canopies with a floating crop cover at least while the trees are getting new leaves, or I would get some of the Surround WP and spray the trees after a rain or at least keep the new growth (including the young green limbs) covered. Also, using this product will help protect the tree get a good start by protecting it from the UV and Solar Rays. Photosymthesis is not affected by this gray clay. The product is 100% organic. (you can use it on vegetables, etc., anything that would be damaged by an Anthropod insect (that includes the Asian Citrus Psyllid, Leafminer adult, grasshopper, Japanese Beetle, etc., etc.

Thanks for the help, guys. I have never heard of Surround WP. I will have to google it. Anything that will deter leaf miners is welcome.

Commercial citrus growers just ignore leaf miners .
Their trails are just cosmetic and do not harm the trees or fruit .
Leaf miners bore between leaf cell layers and sprays do not touch them .
It is more important to control soft bodied pests such as aphids and psyllids .
I rotate using soap sprays , ultra fine horticultural oil and BT .
Search the UF website - soultionsforyourlife.com - for great info on how to grow and care for citrus .

When Gatormomfl says that commercial growers ignore the leaf miner -- would that be because their using Admire Pro? That's the stuff that contains Imedacloprid and it's the stuff that is used (I read) on 100% of the Fl commercial tomatoes. It's used as a foliar and systemic. Oh, but you musn't use it when the bees are around. Oh, and even though it uptakes into the leaves and trunk it doesn't get into the fruit? Does anyone believe that? I don't.

There are a few places I found Surround WP, but the place that was by far cheaper than any others was Agricultur Solutions. 25 lb for $29.99.

The University of CA has a comprehensive paper on the net entitled 'Citrus Bacterial Canker Disease and Huanglonbbing (Citrus Greening). It too mentions the role the leafminer plays in facilitating the Canker disease.

I went to SW Fertilizer store and asked to buy horticultural oil, the man presented dormant oil. He said the 2 kinds of oil: dormant and horticultural are the same. I don't think they are the same because dormant oil is for the dormant trees in winter and horticultural oil is for aphid, scale, white flies etc.. By the way, do you think i could use canola oil to spray the non dormant plants and trees? thank you for teaching me. Kim

Horticultural oil is the broad term to include oils that are sprayed on plants and trees no matter what time of year it's used. There is a difference in the sprays that are used after the bud begins to emerge in the spring and the oil sprays that are used when a tree goes dormant.

The insect has to be covered with the oil to do any good, and the oil does not remain on the tree as a protectant.

I believe that a label would precaution using an oil on a tree if freezing temperatures are a possibilty.

You know not to spray oil on your trees if the temperatures will get to 80 degrees F. I mixed canola oil with water and soap on some trees (including citrus)and even though it was in the cool of the morning, the temperatures went up and one of my citrus ended up loosing all its leaves. I only sprayed the one that had Cottony Cushion scale on it. The leaves grew back and the tree was prettier than ever.

Maybe I should do that to all my trees -- think? At least the Leafminers would take off.

Neem oil is not the same at all.
