OT: POTD: I do not know what hubby fed this Cat

good morning everyone.

Happy Ramadan to our Jewish friends.

I did not believe my eyes when I saw THAT CAT. First time I went and got a ruler. lol

It was about twice the size that I usually see around here. Unbelievable.

Of course I must have touched him somehow. Because he pulled in a bit. But all in all he reached about 5 inches and was FAT!!! Of course if you see the brug leaves...you know why ha ha ha

but since he was a nice cat and left the buds alone. I left him alone too.

So now I see if I can check on the one brug that had some blooms pushing out of the calyx yesterday. But it is raining. I so want to post brug pictures :-)

Oh, Lucy, he certainly is a beauty! I love pictures of all kinds of creatures.
I kept one of these as a pet (briefly) when I was a kid, feeding it leaves from my Dad's tomato plants, of course. He was a fascinating little caterpillar, but when it came time to eat tomatoes with dinner, I became very squeamish, thinking about my pet and his gnashing mouth and squishy droppings!

Is he on a tomato, or on one of your BRUGS?

lol Lucy, those guys sure do eat alot. He is a tobacco hornworm.
He and the tomato hornworm look alike, but you can tell which is which by the number of white stripes. Tobacco has 7, and tomato has 8. They turn into the sphinx moths. I found one thisyear too. I left him alone to eat all he wanted, lol.

I love the baby squirrel. We used to have a little pet flying squirrel at school and it was a hoot. Lucy you and Kylie keep those tarantulas at your houses. I picked up a rock at her house and found one. Nearly crapped my pants. I might have one too. There was a small snake pulled into a hole in the ground by something and it was dead with its tail sticking out of the hole. Spiders and snakes at once are enough to give me a heart attack.

Pam Oh THANK you :-) I just looked at your link and having seen that butterfly flying around the past few days....it can eat all it can find :-) I LOVE butterflies. Now I wish I would not have dumped them across the fence...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr@me I really need to learn to ASK first and then DO :-( Heck I would even go BUY them food ...I think IF and hopefully they come back or more are born....that the plants I have will be big enough for them to have enough to eat. Thanks for the offer though. I am just not sure if I could root it. lately not doing good in trying to root things. Lucy

Siam I know, cause Hubby will not be after I get back and they are dead rofl. Just kidding. I do my best every day and with the heat increasing...it is even hard for me to keep em all happy. Maddy and I sure will have a great time. I wish I lived closer to the other 2 grandkids. But not complaining. Pam my neighbors are all sickly and up there in age. I mean really up there. You know, like a little boy says to mommy at the store...look mom, this lady is REALLY old. Well...I guess through out life....when you look at someone who is a LOT OLDER....you just can not help yourself lol I like this Lantana too. Have a few other colors. But for Amadeus' resting place I found a white one at Lowes and not a plain purple one that I have already. But purple with pinkish white blooms also. Lucy

Briana I would move to Florida, if it was not for the humidity. Everytime I come here, it is killing me all over again roflmao. Thank you for the Welcome. I DO LOVE FLORIDA though. A step closer to paradise...if you are just on vacation lol But I was here in June/July and all grandkids went to disney :-) This time I am just helping DD out. ahhh thanks Daniella. What great info. There are 3 of them in the front eating on the non preforming Candida double white. Maybe NOW he will bring forward nice blooms lol

Good morning all. Lucy, I sure wouldn't want to see that HUGE cat up close. I can take the smaller ones, but not one that big, lol! Hopefully, they will continue to keep your brug flowers alone, and just feast on the leaves.

I think you meant Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish holiday which just ended.

Ramadan is a Muslim holiday which lasts for the entire 9th month of the Islamic calander. lol Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) was on Saturday and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) is next Monday but thank you very much for the thought. BTW I think I might be the token Jew on this forum. lol

Don't those hornworms get huge! That's pretty much the average size of one in it's last instar. It will drop to the ground and pupate a few inches below the soil.

Morning Lucy. You are a stronger woman than I am. I wouldn't have been able to get close enough to even get the picture. I would have been on top of a chair 20 feet away pointing in its direction yelling for Lonny " There's a giant bug on the plant, get it! get it! " Will it be a moth or a butterfly? Or something else?

AHHH We'll still keep ya Karyn...LOL.. I pickes 14 cats about that size early in the season in 2 days.. Haven't had a single tomato either.. I did relocate them and haven't seen them since..I've a few little green worms eating their way the the Brugs tho.. Gosh they are so hard to find.. Speaking of finding I found a 2 1/2' snake skin at the bottom of my front stairs today ..It was a copper head...Won't be so worried about weeding the crowded beds for a while..LOL

Kim it will turn into a sphinx moth There's many different varieties. Ironically it's one of the brugs natural pollinators.

Oh I post and read lol....after all I do need breaks lol. Just not whole novels anymore lol

Hornworm is on a brug. But at this time, I don't worry.
