Need help choosing shrub(s)

We have a raised bed along the front of our house in which we're replacing all the plants. In the past, I've ripped out Nandina (can't stand them), Gardenia (hate the whiteflies), Dwarf Alberta Spruce (there's a reason they're called Alberta).

The area I need to fill is approximately 10'wide x 10'deep x 6' high. Full sun, all day, all year. It can be extremely hot in this spot b/c of the brick background. I have no problem filling with multiple shrubs but cannot settle on what. I prefer something evergreen for this spot as it's right next to our front porch. I don't care if it blooms, and growth rate of moderate or faster is fine.

The area surrounding will be a variety of spirea, abelia, muhly grass, spartan juniper, Viburnum sargentii ÂChiquita (if I can find this). There will also be some other evergreens I haven't settled on what at this point.

Thanks so much!

Heather
