I'm angry and need some advice

We have a "Butterfly tent" at the fair. The people are local and apparently travel all over the country with this exhibit. It consists of a mesh tent with no props and tropical butterflies--mostly from Costa Rica. They did a news story on the guy. He charges $3 per person to go into the tent with the butterflies. Apparently a lot of people go in at a time. The children try to catch the butterflies, and they are trampled. He says they only live 3 days. I don't think he feeds them. How can he have permits to do this? He gets the butterflies from people who collect them in Costa Rica as pupae and mail them to him. He made a comment that a hundred dollars a month was a lot to them. It just makes me so angry to see this exploitation. I want to contact USDA and see if he has permits. I thought butterflies that were used in exhibits were specially grown for those exhibits, not harvested from the wild.

Elizabeth, if you read this, maybe you can enlighten me.

Thanks,

Sandy
