I was checking for blossoms today and to my surprise Mary K was in full blossom. I didn't realize that she was so close. I think I am in love with this lady.

Definitely one of my favorites.

Sorry to hear about the kitty Jean. I had a FIV positive cat named Ginger and I kept her with other cats that were not FIV positive but were vaccinated against it. She lived for six years, ultimately dying from a bad tooth which was successfully removed and she started to recover, but then had to be put under anesthesia again to cautertize the gum area and this time didn't come out of it and went semi-comatose. She was also not making red bood cells. My vet said I could get her a blood transfusion but the donor had to be a healthy cat from the shelter (who would lose it's life) so I said no and had her put down. The one thing is she can't be with cats not vacinated at all and that means no outdoors as you don't know who she will run into and spread the disease. Like 3CD said, I would require a positive test, or maybe even test twice before I made any decision. I've never heard of a vet that 'knows' a cat has HIV or AIDs without some sort of blood test just based on streaking on the tongue. If it was my decision to make I would get the test done. If infected I would probably put her down. I hope things work out. CT

We went today! It's one of my favorite plant sales. I like the plant there, but I don't think you really need anything else. To my eye, the clock balances out the plant. I originally thought a basket or pottery jug might work, but I think it would compete with the clock and risk looking cluttered. However, if you feel you need something else to personalize the space and add a pop of color, a long, low profile sign might work, probably propped up on a plate stand or something. I think I'd try to avoid anything tall enough to obscure the trim, though. Maybe cut out paper to get a visual on what size works, then find an etsy seller who does custom work if you don't find anything you like. Sheila, if you've put your pictures in files on your computer (for instance I have files for different years and different seasons) then it's not that to transfer pictures on houzz, it just takes a little getting used to. Even your "flat" MAM looks better than any of mine and the first pic is marvelous. I wouldn't be giving that rose away. So much is location, which includes any number of variables. Nik, I would be worried that your location is too hot, or will be in the future for this rose, but I don't think your place is usually as hot as mine. I'm glad some of you appreciate Mme. Leon Pain, and she is definitely growing on me. Right now she has 17 buds and that's not too bad. I actually think she's here to stay. Marlorena, you may be quite right, in spring she might be a wonder. Maybe I'll slip her some fish solution. Lisa, Happy Birthday! I just measured MAM and she's about 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide. I feel that it may be possible to pretty much keep her at this size and still have her bloom and thrive. Of all my roses this one is the most graceful and beautiful bush, with gorgeous leaves, but the flowers are so disappointing here. I'm glad the lump on your elbow is not something serious, although no doubt not much fun.

I really like the form and color. Mary K was my late MIL's name so I'll keep an eye out if you have cuttings this fall (and one of my oldest friends is a natl. Mary Kay director so wouldn't it be neat to present her w one someday!

The blossoms lasted a really long time before they wilted. What a lovely flush and great smell. I love this plant. It still has new blossoms coming right now . I guess I should pick the old ones off so it will still be pretty but nobody but me sees them anyway.

A week later this is Mary K. still making more blossoms. I picked the old blossoms off because she is to pretty to be left nasty.

She looks pretty enough for a wedding bouquet! I wonder if anyone has ever done that. Maybe not- the blooms are so fragile. Very nice Bill- thanks for sharing!

good that it smells so terrific I just love so much the fragrance of Brugmansia

wish there was a perfume of this fragrance

Kylie, it isn't that I feel that bad it is just that I get so winded when ever I try to do things. Since I had the stent put in my heart last year and started taking all these darn medicines I haven't been much help to anyone, BUT, I am getting better little by little. I do not feel bad though. Maybe some one is looking out for me by giving me all of these blossoms that I DO NOT deserve.
