This is just too unreal about the Angel Trumpet. Must be a different variety. I only know my'ne are called Angels Trumpet. I bought a little growing stem from a elderly lady who potted them in many colors. Nothing was said about them being poison. She would probably be dead as well as my husband and I. My'ne gets about 15ft. Georgeous pink upside down trumpets. I have potted cutting for everyone I know. North Tx. does'nt have as much growing luck. I havent tried to eat them ! I have bought a purple double that died last year and is coming back now. You people must have another strain.I will find out from the little old lady I bought them from. I bought more online. Now don't you know they could be sued???

I have an Angel Trumpoet vine. I say that because the plant never exceeds the height of 2 feet, yet spreads out as long as 4 to 5 foot branches along my flower bed. The flowers are white and only bloom at night. They make a large beautiful ground cover for a large flower bed or the side of the house. They are poisoness but none of my animals are interested. the trumpet vine is beautiful in bloom and attracts hummingbirds all year long. I've never heard of anyone or any animal being poisoned by one. Thank you.

Unless you want a bush, yes, take off all the side shoots along the stem so it can concentrate its energy on top growth. If the shoots on the bottom are coming off of the trunk, they will likely be bushy in growth, as opposed to "root shoots," which come right off the roots and grow very tall, very quickly. You can certainly remove the two bottom shoots and propagate them. If they have no roots, they should root easily in water. Once they get "nubbies" (white spots along the stem that is under water), you can wait for roots, or dip them in a little rooting hormone and pot them up. Put them in a shady spot and keep them moist, but not wet, or they'll rot. I always like to wait until they have little roots about 1/2 inch long before I pot them up, so they can immediately start taking up nutrients. Brugs propagated from cuttings usually bloom the first year, but yes, cuttings taken above the "y" bloom earlier, but they tend to be bush rather than tree-like.

What variety is this? It seems to be the one most everyone in Florida has. It's likely the most heat tolerant. I have one that looks exactly like it propagated from cutting. It looks great year round. My other varieties on the other hand look terrible in the summer. They go half dormant, get yellowish or get devoured by slugs.
