Yet Another Surprise (Pictures) :)

Hi everyone,

I got yet another surprise in the garden today! I turned this pot of forget me nots around to trim off some of the flowers and look at what I found at the lip of the flowerpot:

I believe this is a female? I don't see the scent patch on the wings.

Pictures are awful fuzzy but I'd put my $ on male.

SC, thanks for the article on Cycs. Kerplunk is a riot. One time, when DH had the 6 critter bowls lined up on the counter, getting their meals ready, Kerplunk decided he'd jump up for an appetizer. The other 2 cats - gray & black striped - can land in 2" sq. of counter space and never touch a thing. Well, Kerplunk tried to leap to the counter. Only his front paws made it. Each landed in one of the food bowls. He kerplunked back down to the floor, bringing the bowls - and watery contents - with him. Wish I'd been there. Carolyn, thanks for the opinion and the congratulations. You can ignore my private e-mail. The Cycs and Ctsm got no water during the winter - none of the pbs shriveled. Gaston, thanks. Is your weather too warm for a cooler winter rest for Cycs and Ctsm? They've been easy for me, but the cooler living room gets down to 57 at night during the winter. Hi Mitsukiwi, I would say that you have Rosado. That is one I don't have yet but if you look it up I think you will find pictures that match yours. At least you got something sweet and pretty and at least it is still a cybister! Some of my nicest bulbs came to me through mislabels so you can't loose them all! This is just a terrible year for mislabeled bulbs and it doesn't seem to matter where they come from! All the different growers from all over the world are sending out mislabeled bulbs!! Karyn I am glad you are getting something special for all the bad things that came your way lately. That is so beautiful. So is the Halo peach and hope you get another shot from Butterfly when it is more open, for us. How is your Special one....gee what was it again. Man I am worse then my mother and she is 82 years. Alzheimers but not so bad yet. Just short term memory. Anyways Karyn I just wanted to say that I hope that with your green hands that Kristy always says you have, and all the pictures you share all the time and it all looks so wonderful. Julie, those are sunflowers..the kind that get a huge 8ft and flowers that sometimes look like dinner plates. They have blooms all the way down their stalk (plus the stalks are often down on the ground after a wind) which is why it was so close to ST. Here is Prairie Tornado FFO today. It was very hard to photograph this dark red color, especially with it facing away from the sun. I eventually used the blade of an old aluminum snow shovel for a reflector...master of improvising :D I'm going to really like this one once it gets established. It is registered as ML but this is VL in our season. Wonder if it will always bloom this late? It came from a state south of me with similar bloom season so no using the excuse of having started the spring in a more northerly state with this one.

What a nice surprise! Yes, definitely male. How is the chrysalis doing that you're tending in the kitchen?

You better watch out Brad, you might get hooked on butterflies. They are as addicting as winter-sowing! ;)

It is definitely a welcome surprise here in my garden :).
Terrene, the chrysalis on the bird feeder is still green (it's in my bedroom on the floor, by the window). I found another one yesterday under the little wooden porch where I keep my houseplants outside for the spring and summer. There were 5 cats that I found on my tropcial milkweed and I'm thinking that these three are from that group. LOL I've been hooked on butterflies for a long time! Between them and winter sowing, it's hard to say what I get more enthusiastic about!!!!
