I've grown all three. You asked for taste as the basis of comparison, and of the three choices, I vote strongly for Big Beef. I now grow it every year as the hybrid beefsteak of choice, because it is realiable, productive, and most of all, tastes very good. I also grow a couple of Better Boys (rather than Big Boy), I think they are similar to Big Boy, but more disease resistant. The Better Boys are more productive, and good, but not nearly as good tasting as Big Beef, but I grow them because I know I will get a lot of good looking, better than average tomatoes, whatever the weather or pest and disease situation. Supersonic is a popular tomato in the Northeast, where I live. I don't think it is better than Big Beef, and I've given it up to make room for more heirlooms, but there is nothing wrong with it.

The degree to which a variety has disease tolerances ( not resistances for the most part) and is thus useful to a grower depends on whether or not the disease tolerances bred in are ones that are found where a particular grower lives and gardens. Tomato diseases are regionalized, which means that different diseases are more common in certain parts of the country. You can look at the chart from Cornell that I linked to below and if any of the Better Boy diseases are known to be a problem in your area then growing BB, which has those tolerances,can often lead to several weeks more growth and fruit maturation than if the variety had no tolerances at all. Most bred in disease tolerances, which are for mainly systemic soilborne diseases are of greatest use to the large scale farmer who harvests fruit when the Brix level ( soluble sugars) are what they should be and sometimes the extra week or two allows the fruits to get to those Brix levels. THE most common diseases of tomatoes are the foliage diseases, not the systemic ones, and with very few exceptions there are no varieties with good tolerances to those common diseases and the most common are: Early Blight ( A. solani) Septoria Leaf Spot Bacterial Spot Bacterial Speck. Summary? Tomato disease tolerances bred into a variety are only of use if those diseases are found in the area where you live and garden. Same favorites here for me, too. I guess we've all got good taste...lol!!! I thought most of the gals were horrible and actually found myself fast forwarding a lot of the performances (I recorded it). I hope this gets more entertaining as we go along. It makes me wonder what planet the judges were on when they selected some of these people as finalists.

I vote for choice 3, Storage 101. I like the footboard better and the divided drawers on top are nice. I have two daughters, 16-year-old has a natural maple set we bought for her when she was young; the 10-year-old I went a different route with vintage furniture pieces painted white paired with a wrought iron daybed with pop-up trundle. I think white furniture is very versatle for a girl as you can mix and match and add pieces to it overtime and it goes with almost any paint color and/or fabric. I do highly recommend the daybed option as it can be propped up with many pillows and stuft animals and can be a cozy spot to cuddle up and read books with a parent or friend. The popup trundle is also really nice as it brings the other bed to the same height as the first one. My DD really likes being at the same height as her friend when she has sleepovers so the girls can face one another and share secrets instead of one bed higher than the other. Don't be afraid to get just a piece or two if you like it and add other pieces later.
